Chapter 49 An Encounter of Three Different Species

A short while later Hilda had lead Frey and Freya to the secret compound where she kept Ramun. Hilda had kept the capture of a Xeno General a secret. Knowledge was power, and she wanted to make sure that the power stayed with House Muller, instead of sharing it with the other factions. Hilda looked at her Zetan guests, and spoke:
- You two better stay outside, I do not want to agitate this prisoner. Take this universal translator device and use it once the coast is clear. Our Xeno prisoner is not very well-spoken.
Frey and Freya nodded at Hilda, and she entered the enclosure. Inside, it was hot as a sauna, and the vegetation mostly consisted of scorched grass. Ramun liked it this way; it reminded him of his former home planet Xenora. Hilda found Ramun sleeping next to the carcass of a cow. She raised her plasma sword with the right hand and whipped him, with a whip she was holding in her left. Ramun growled as he woke up and he turned towards Hilda:
- Grrrrrr… Mistress Hilda. It has been a long time. How can I serve you?
Hilda:
- I am bringing some guests that I would like you to meet. And as your mistress, I command you stay civil!
Ramun:
- Ramun is happy to follow your commands. Mistress Hilda has been very good to Ramun, providing Ramun with delicious prey animals!
Hilda spoke into the headset, and a minute later Melanie Weber was escorting Frey and Freya to the enclosure. Seeing two Zetans, his mortal enemies, Ramun started drooling and clenching his teeth preparing to attack, Hilda slapped him out of it with her whip:
- Ramun, you promised to be civil.
Ramun growled back with a whiny voice:
- Yes, mistress, I did. Ggrrrrhmmm..…
And then he lay himself down on the ground in a submissive pose.
Freya:
- You managed to tame the beast? But how?
Hilda:
- I defeated him in single combat. The Xenos respect someone who can beat them in single combat. When I found him, his legs and arms were chopped off, and I used Terran Stem cell technology to regrow them.
Frey:
- Interesting approach, but why would you go through this hassle to make a primitive beast your prisoner?
Hilda:
- That’s the reason for your downfall. Your arrogance. During thousands of years of interstellar warfare, you never considered the option to incapacitate a prominent Xeno and take him, prisoner?
Frey:
- But we created them. We Zetans created mankind, we created all the sentient species in the galaxy. We imbued Xenos with our Zetan intelligence, which sadly caused our demise. We are the supreme and highest species of the universe, blessed by the one and only, The True Maker. What could we possibly learn from a lesser species?
Hilda:
- What drives them, and how to defeat them.
Freya:
- So, what insights do you have?
Hilda:
- Well, the Xenos are driven into a violent frenzy when they are hungry, and there are prey animals/enemies around.
- Use that to your advantage, and half the battle is won.
- But I can tell that you guys have plenty of catching up to do.
- Ramun!
Ramun:
- Yes, Mistress Hilda.
Hilda:
- I am leaving these Zetans here with you. I want you to communicate and coexist. If any blood is spilled between you, I will make sure that all of you will suffer.
After saying this, she turned to Frey and Freya:
- So, Frey and Freya, I am allowing you to do what you should have done eons ago, getting to know the enemy.
Freya looked at Hilda in awe and stuttered:
- But the beast is going to kill us if you leave us here alone.
Hilda:
- No, he won’t. I believe that if a mere human can tame him, I am sure that two intelligent beings from the Zetan “Supreme” race will be okay. Now I must take my leave. Good luck with your research!
After saying that, Hilda left Frey and Freya with Ramun, hoping for the Zetans to learn something useful about their eternal enemy.
