I had only known Zoey for a short time, but I could read her like an open book. I saw how she reacted when I talked about finding the person who had attacked me.
I could tell right away that she knew something but didn’t want to spill it.
She hadn’t known anything before she went to Conrad. I was sure of that. But whatever happened there… It changed something.
And I knew exactly how to push so that she would confess.
“Yes. I’m confused now. I’m thinking that I should just attack everyone since I can’t figure out who the main culprit is.”
I definitely wasn’t going to do that. It was irrational and stupid. But I just wanted Zoey to speak up.
I knew she wouldn’t want me to start an unnecessary war.
