Chapter 3

As they got closer to her, one of them jumped and was torn apart. Myla 's face was stained with its blood, and she was angry as she looked at the other two. They were dead on the ground in a matter of seconds. She looked around at the trees. She could see her brothers fighting far away, and she could also see enemy wolves coming at her quickly. As she fought, time started to blur, and before she knew it, she was deep in the woods chasing dogs. She was now alone, and when she heard the leaves in the trees behind her rustle, she decided to go back to the fight. She stopped because something above her caught her attention. Myla moved before she could look up because a wolf struck her from behind. In her place was a beautiful wolf with golden yellow fur and a slim, muscled body. She gave the enemy a narrow look and a growl. Before they both jumped high into the air, the other girl tensed up. Myla jumped a few feet higher than her opponent, but before she could use her claws to cut at the other wolf, the enemy struck her vulnerable belly. Myla changed into a human and flipped in the air so she was lying on her stomach as the other wolf growled over her back. Myla was pinned to the ground by the other wolf. Just as the other wolf was about to bite Myla 's neck, Myla grabbed her knife and hurriedly cut at the branch that was holding her down. The other wolf yelped and stumbled away from Myla . As the other wolf howled in pain, Myla cautiously got up. When one of the wolves howled in pain, it called more wolves to them. Myla was dead tired, but when she saw the other dogs coming towards her, she got down low and put her hand on the ground, making a tornado-like wind field with herself in the middle. The wind seemed to be going so fast that no wolf would go near it. She saw her attacker change into a beautiful woman and watch her carefully while she was bleeding a lot. As Myla got closer to the woman, she saw danger in her fierce, golden-yellow eyes. She pulled out her knife to kill the other woman, but her field was suddenly broken. She was shocked when a man walked in, completely unbothered by the strong winds that should have torn him apart. Myla watched the man move towards her, and when she felt the man's wolf, her senses went crazy. She let her guard down for a second when she looked into his ice-blue eyes, and her whole body shivered on its own. They looked at each other, and then he turned his face into a hard scowl, which brought her back to what was going on. As he got closer to where she was standing, with the downed woman at her feet and her knife just an inch from the woman's heart, she growled at him. The alpha came up behind her quietly and growled to warn her. She couldn't stop her eyes from moving from his face to his well-defined upper body, broad shoulders, and strong arms. She couldn't help but respect the way power seemed to coil under his skin and was clear in everything he did. Both her body and her wolf were mesmerised by how much power and control he gave off. Her blood got hot and his eyes got hungry, which made her happy and surprised at the same time. Primal lust roared through her body so hard it almost hurt. He stopped in front of her and was so tall that he made her knees shake. When she looked at him, her brown eyes came back. She was confused by how she had acted. Why did she lose control? As he growled at her again, she came back to herself. She wouldn't back down, even if she was attracted to him against her will. He was only about two feet away from her, and she could feel his menacing presence in the air around them. She got ready to fight him, which made her wolf sad. As her eyes again turned a dangerous bright yellow, she moved to put the woman between them. She grabbed her knife tightly and raised her arms to stick it in the woman's chest. Before she could, the monster pushed her away from the woman with such force that she landed a few metres away. She felt something hit her head, and she couldn't see straight. She didn't know whose blood was on her knife because all she could see was the man carrying the woman away. Her wind field was gone, and she could barely feel the wolves around her leave with their master. She felt cold, and all of a sudden, it hit her like a bolt of lightning that no one would bother to fix her. As she desperately tried to keep herself awake, she could feel the warmth of a body around her. As she relaxed into it, its arms wrapped around her, and she fell asleep without another thought. After an unknown amount of time, she pushed herself to open her eyes and look around before she realised where she was. Her inner wolf felt at ease when she saw the familiar things in her room: the light cream walls covered with posters she had collected over the years, the brown plush carpet that matched the colour of her eyes, and the light pinewood shelves that were carefully made to match her comfortable queen-size plush bed. She tucked herself under the blanket that was strewn all over the bed. As she smelled the fresh pine around her grandfather's jungle house, she noticed a strange smell coming from her room. It was the fresh smell of a wolf she didn't know. Again, the wolf inside her growled, becoming more alert. She wasn't scared or worried; she just didn't know who would be brave enough to come into her room. Was it a bad guy? But who was brave enough to go where her grandfather lived... Ed paid very close attention. While she was talking, he could tell that none of her brothers had helped her in battle. She had been fighting the war alone. Helmar was more interested in how she got a broken rib than in what she had done wrong. He waited calmly until Myla got to the end of her story and told him that an alpha had thrown her off when she was about to kill a female wolf. Ed felt awful when he found out that she had fought bravely and alone, without anyone else's help. He threw his hands up in the air in frustration and said, "You won't fight another war for Ernesh! This was the last one!" Myla smiled and looked at him with love. They ate breakfast in silence until Helmar told her to hurry up and finish. Even though he wasn't looking for her, he wanted her to go see her father. It was important to Helmar that Ernesh always felt her presence, so he didn't want to take any risks. With Myla around, Ernesh felt like he was in danger, and Helmar wanted to make sure he kept feeling that way. When Myla heard that she had to go with Helmar to her father's house, she was not happy. When she was young, her nanny took care of her. She never remembers her father asking about her or playing with her, even though he would play with her bigger siblings. She always looked at everyone from a distance. No one tried to get her to sit with them at parties or meals. As they got older, she and the rest of her family got further away from each other. Myla really wanted to get out of that house. Her nanny had died, so she was on her own again. When she was only twelve, she ran away from her house out of anger and hopelessness. She had just reached the edge of the bush when she saw people. She went into hiding because she could smell that they were not like her. She was curious, so she went with them to the big town outside of the jungle. She was very surprised by the way people lived. As she walked around the shops and streets that day without fear, not knowing how dangerous it was, she swore she would never go back. Ed had gone to talk to Ernesh about making a deal with the most powerful alpha, but Ernesh turned him down. Since then, Ernesh had fought too many wars with them, and each time he was able to force them to withdraw. When Helmar found out that Myla had been gone from home for two days, he didn't waste a single second before going to find her. Ed found her looking tired and dirty while she was hanging out in the streets. Myla had found food for herself over the course of those two days. She had made it. She was in charge of her wolf. She had shown she was tough enough to live. When Helmar found her, he couldn't stand for her to be alone any longer, so he took the little girl under his wing. Myla was living with him almost full-time, but he demanded that she still go see her father every now and then. Ed told her again that she had to go see her father. Myla was upset because she didn't want to see her dad, her older brothers, or her sister. Helmar stood up for himself, and soon they were on their way to her dad's house. Even though they could change into wolves and get there, Myla chose to take the motorbike that Helmar had given her. Helmar taught her how to ride the motorbike, and she often took it to college. She sometimes rode her motorbike to her favourite spot when she went deep into the bush to work on herself. It was a rough ride, but Myla handled it like a pro. Only Helmar knew how hard that ride was for him. Myla had almost thrown him off the motorcycle several times, and he was barely clinging to the seat's ends. He must have yelled at her dozens of times to tell her to slow down, but she didn't pay attention. She would just give him an old man look and a smile. They stopped by the house that her father owned. There were many different kinds of trees all around the big house. There were many rooms inside, and the largest one was where he met with his friends. Myla and Helmar met Ernesh in his meeting room when they got to the house. Ernesh looked at his daughter, but he didn't pay any attention to her. Instead, he kept talking to his two friends about the war. Ed and Myla moved to a different seat and waited for the meeting to end. Claus, one of the friends, looked at Myla and motioned for her to come closer. Myla sighed and walked over to him, ready for the same old talk she had had so many times before. "Good afternoon, Uncle Claus," she said to him in a dull voice. "Hi Myla , it's the afternoon. When are you going to send her to my house, Ernesh? Claus looked at Myla while talking to Ernesh. "I've already told you that my son is the best match for her," he said. Ernesh gave her a grin and rolled his eyes. "Why do you want her to live with you? She is not a good sign. As soon as she was born, she killed her mother. "Don't you realise that?" Ernesh and Claus were fast friends and had known each other for a long time. Claus liked Myla a lot, and he wanted his 25-year-old son to marry her. It was known that Claus's son hadn't found his mate yet, but he had seen Myla and been very interested in her. When he went to Myla 's house, he told her about it, but she left before she could answer him. She was only 16 at the time. Even though it had been three years since then, he still wanted Myla to be his. He wanted to mark her because he thought it would make them soul mates. Claus stopped talking when Ernesh said that. He knew that this talk upset Ernesh, but he also wondered why Ernesh hadn't given up on her if Ernesh hated her so much, and what better way to get rid of her than to marry her off? At that point, the meeting was over, and both friends left. Ed walked up to his son and niece and asked, "Now that you have won the war against the chief alpha, what are your plans?" I think you should pay attention to your people right now. So many wars have worn them out." Ernesh yelled, "I don't need your opinion, Ed!" Then he looked at Myla and said, "The leader of the blue moon pack, which had been at war with us, has told us that he will keep attacking us over the next two weeks. If not..." Ernesh stopped in the middle of his speech, looked up, and shook his head. "Unless what?" Helmar asked, getting antsy. Ernesh gave Myla a look. "Unless you're being given to him as a bride," he said, as if he was still trying to figure out what was going on.
