"Doubt"

Heaven Michaels P.O.V   This didn't make any sense to me, Giovanni had made it here in record time without even knowing what had happened and he was out of breath. What was going on?   "Ummm….I had some family business that urgently needed my attention, so I was there. I saw your missed calls and had my friend drop me at the corner of the street. I heard your screams, it scared me and I came running here as fast as I could. That's why I'm out of breath but nevermind that, it's not important, you are. Heaven, I'm sorry, I wish I could have been here sooner, maybe I could have saved your father." Giovanni said, but he sounded so nervous even though he was trying to cover it up, which only made me even more suspicious.   "How….how did you know I was going to be here and not at my graduation ceremony?" I asked, my eyes not leaving my father's lifeless body, as my tears started to stream down my face.   "H, you know I've got a tracker on your phone and can track you no matter where you are. I was calling you for fifteen minutes and when you didn't answer I was worried, so I tracked your location and it showed me that you were here." Giovanni replied, cupping my face with his hand and wiping away the tears on my cheek. I nodded and wrapped my arms around him, crying my eyes out.   "I….I lost him, Gio. I lost my dad. What am I going to do now? How am I going to live without him? He was all I had left. I loved him so much and now he is gone. What am I going to do?" I asked, sobbing into his chest.   "Sshhh, I….I don't know. He was a good man, he was like a father to me too. He was one of the best men I have ever met." Giovanni replied, comforting me and kissing my forehead. I buried my face in his chest, crying my eyes out when I felt something wet on my hand. I looked at it and there was fresh blood on my hand. It wasn't my dad's, as that had already started to dry, it must be coming from Giovanni.   "Gio...Gio, are you hurt? There's blood." I said, worried for him, but he just shook his head.   "Sshh, no I am fine." Giovanni said, standing up and hissing in pain as he pulled me onto my feet. He held me in his arms and walked me over to the couch, all the time he was limping.   "Are you okay? Why are you limping? What happened to your leg? Why is there blood on your shirt?" I said, firing questions at him, but he just looked away and avoided eye contact with me again. What had he done? Why was he acting like this? He was acting so suspiciously, that it was making me feel slightly nervous and uncomfortable. What was he hiding?    "H, why so many questions all of a sudden? Huh? Right now my main priority is taking care of you." Giovanni replied, avoiding every single question I had asked him, he sat me down on the couch and limped away into the kitchen. I sat there staring at my dad's body and my tears were refusing to stop, I felt as if my heart had been shattered into a million pieces and suddenly I was gasping for air. Giovanni came back into the living room and sat down beside me, rubbing my back.   "Here have some water, it will help. Just take small sips." Giovanni said, bringing the glass up to my lips, but I shook my head and pushed it away from me.   "I DON'T WANT IT! I WANT MY DAD! I WANT MY DAD!" I yelled when suddenly the room started to spin, black spots dotted my vision, as my breathing became more rapid and I was thrown into complete darkness. I woke up in my room to the sounds of hushed voices, I looked around for the source and saw that it was Giovanni and his parents. They were standing in the doorway to my room talking to one another, but when they saw me try to sit up they stopped talking and rushed to stand by the side of my bed. Giovanni's mother was the first to reach me, she sat down on the bed next to me and pulled me into a tight hug, kissing the top of my head. She was always like a mother to me and had always treated me like a daughter.   "Oh Heaven, I am so sorry about your father, sweetie," Luciana said and everything that had happened came rushing back to me, I must have fainted.   "DAD! I NEED TO GET TO MY DAD! DADDY!" I screamed, jumping out of bed and running out of my room. I probably looked like a madwoman, but I didn't care, I just wanted to get back to my dad. I ran into the living room, just as the paramedics were zipping up a large black body bag. There were police everywhere, examining the scene and taking photos of everything, there were little yellow numbered cards dotted all around the room next to various items.   "NO! NO! NO! PLEASE! DON'T TAKE MY DAD AWAY FROM ME! PLEASE! I NEED HIM!" I screamed, running towards the paramedics, just as Giovanni grabbed me around my waist and held me back.    "Heaven, please. There's nothing you can do. They have to take him away." Giovanni pleaded as I struggled in his arms.   "No, where are they taking my dad? Giovanni, I need to be with him." I cried,  but Giovanni kept a tight grip on me. He was strong and muscular, which made it impossible to escape from his grasp.   "Heaven, your father is dead! Chris is dead!" Giovanni snapped at me, trying to remind me, but it only made me see red.   "NO, HE IS NOT!" I yelled, snapping at him. I started hitting him, trying to get him to let me go, but it was no use.   "Miss Micheals." A voice said from behind me, I stopped my assault on Giovanni and looked around. It was a policeman and he looked familiar, I'm sure he worked with my dad.   "Miss Michaels, I am so sorry for your loss. Chris….your father was a great man, he was the best and most loyal cop I have ever had the privilege to know." The policeman said, but he looked nervous.   "I need to take your statement of everything that happe…." The policeman started to say before he was rudely interrupted by Giovanni.   "Can you take her statement later? Can't you see that she is not stable at the moment and clearly upset? She just lost her father!" Giovanni snapped, which caused the cop to glare at him.   "Watch your tone, young man!" The policeman replied, his tone was cold when he spoke to Giovanni.   "Do you know who I am? Who my father is? I am Giovanni Venezia, the son of Matteo Venezia." Giovanni said, the color in his face rising with each word he spoke. I had never seen him act like this and I didn't like it, even if he was trying to protect me.   "Son!" Matteo shouted, Giovanni and I looked behind and he gave Giovanni a stern disappointed look, but his face softened when he looked at me.   "Why don't you take Heaven to our place? I will sort matters here and she can stay with you tonight. She can't stay here, it's not safe." Matteo said, approaching us and gently taking my hand in his.    "I am so sorry about your dad darling, we are here for you. Now please go with Giovanni to our mansion and get some rest. I will arrange it so that if you wish you can give your statement to the police tomorrow." Matteo said and I couldn't argue, I didn't have the strength to say anything and I felt weak, so I just nodded.   "Come on Heaven, let me take you back to mine," Giovanni said, scooping me up in his arms and carrying me out to the limo, where his parent's driver was ready and waiting with the door open. I got in and Giovanni got in behind me, as soon as he got in, he wrapped his arms around me and held me close, stroking my hair out of my face.   "Heaven?" Giovanni started but stopped.   "Hmmm," I mumbled, not really wanting to talk.   "Would you be okay to tell me what really happened over there? Why were you asking me so many questions? You never normally ask for any explanation, it looked like you doubted me of something, but what?" Giovanni asked, I tensed up not knowing how to answer, and looked into his electric blue eyes. I had once taken comfort in those eyes, but now I felt like I was drowning every time I looked at them.   "Gi….Gio, can we talk later, please? I am so tired and my whole mind is solely fixed on my dad and the last image I have of him." I said, looking down at my hands and hoping he would let it go.  I mean how could I even talk about it to him? It's not like I can just come right out and say it, hey Gio are you the one that was behind the mask and killed my dad. Yeah, that sounds really great.   "I will let you rest once we reach my home, but please tell me what happened? Why do you keep looking at me as though you are scared of me or something?" Giovanni asked, taking my hand in his and lifting my chin up so that I was looking straight into his eyes. Electric Blue Eyes that I will never forget or escape. Precap: "No, please leave me. Please leave me alone. I don't wanna die. Please….Please." I pleaded.
