Chapter 4: we are lost

Sophia had promised her twins, Alexander and Ava, that she would take them out to play at the amusement park. They had been cooped up at home for too long, and Sophia thought it would be a great idea to get them out and enjoying the sunshine.

As they walked through the park, Sophia was distracted by a phone call from her best friend, Emily. Emily was calling to catch up and chat about her latest gossip. Sophia got caught up in the conversation and didn't notice that the twins had wandered off.

When she finally hung up the phone, Sophia looked around frantically, but the twins were nowhere to be seen. She called out their names, but there was no response.

Panic set in as Sophia realized that she had lost her children. She quickly scanned the surrounding area, but they were nowhere to be found. She ran to the nearest park employee and asked for help.

The employee quickly called for assistance, and soon, the park was filled with the sound of loudspeakers announcing the lost children. Sophia was beside herself with worry, imagining all sorts of terrible scenarios.

As she searched for the twins, Sophia couldn't shake off the feeling of guilt and responsibility. She had promised to take care of them, and now, she had lost them. She felt like a failure as a mother.

Ethan POV

Ethan Thompson, a billionaire businessman, stood in line for the rollercoaster at the amusement park, surrounded by the sounds of laughter and screams of excitement. He had been dragged to the park by his sister, Rachel, who had wanted to spend the day with her kids. Ethan had agreed to tag along, but he wasn't exactly thrilled about it.

As they waited in line, Ethan's mind began to wander. He thought about his business dealings, his investments, and his plans for the future. He was a man who always had his eyes on the prize, and he didn't let anything get in his way.

But as he glanced around the park, his eyes landed on two children standing alone near the funnel cake stand. They looked lost and scared, and Ethan's instincts immediately kicked in. He felt a pang of recognition, but he couldn't quite place where he had seen them before.

As he watched, the boy looked up and caught his eye. Ethan felt a jolt of electricity run through his body, and he knew that he had to go to them. He quickly excused himself from his sister and her kids and made his way over to the twins.

As he approached them, Ethan could see the fear and uncertainty in their eyes. They were clearly lost, and they didn't know what to do. Ethan's heart went out to them, and he knew that he had to help.

"Hey there, are you guys okay?" Ethan asked, trying to sound calm and reassuring.

The twins looked up at him, and Ethan could see the recognition in their eyes. They knew him, but they didn't know from where.

"We're lost," the boy said, his voice shaking. "We can't find our mom."

Ethan's heart skipped a beat as he realized who the twins were. They were Sophia's children, the woman he had spent one unforgettable night with three years ago.

As he looked into their eyes, Ethan felt a rush of emotions. He felt guilty for not being able to find Sophia, for not being able to be there for her and their children. He felt angry at himself for letting his pride and ego get in the way of his feelings.

But most of all, Ethan felt a sense of hope. He hoped that he could make things right, that he could find Sophia and be a part of their children's lives.

As he stood there, looking into the eyes of Sophia's children, Ethan knew that he had to do everything in his power to make things right.

Just as Sophia was starting to lose hope, she saw a familiar figure walking towards her. It was Ethan Thompson, the billionaire businessman. But what was he doing here? And why was he holding her children's hands?

Sophia's mind was racing with questions as she rushed towards Ethan and the twins. "Alexander! Ava!" she exclaimed, hugging them tightly. "I was so worried about you!"

Ethan smiled and handed the twins over to Sophia. "I found them wandering around the park," he explained. "They were looking for you."

Sophia's eyes met Ethan's, and for a moment, they just stared at each other. Sophia felt a spark of recognition, but she couldn't quite place it.

"Thank you," Sophia said finally, breaking the silence. "I owe you one."

Ethan smiled again, and this time, Sophia noticed the way his eyes crinkled at the corners. "No need to thank me," he said. "I'm just glad I could help."

As Sophia took the twins' hands and led them away, she couldn't shake off the feeling that she had just encountered something much bigger than herself. She didn't know what it was, but she was determined to find out.

Ethan POV

With a newfound sense of determination, Ethan took the twins' hands and led them through the crowded park, searching for Sophia. He didn't know what the future held, but he was ready to face it head-on.
