Chapter 37: Into the Shadow Realm
Melissa’s POV
The ground beneath my feet disappeared, and the whirling darkness tugged at me, chilly and oppressive. In a desperate attempt to grasp something, I reached out aimlessly.
"Kane!" The wailing wind of the portal drowned out my scream.
"I'm present!" Strong and solid, Kane's fingers gripped mine as the vortex pulled us into the unknown.
As everything turned black, the howls of the pack melted into quiet.
The world was completely different when I opened my eyes. We were standing in a tangled scene of dark mist and sharp rocks. Crimson streaks of lightning sliced through the swirling mass of deep purple and black that was the sky. There was a spooky buzz in the air, which made me nervous.
