CHAPTER 11 The weeks passed amazingly quickly, mainly due to my job at the Conference Centre being so busy. In fact I was so busy I’d have missed Valentine’s if it hadn’t been for my having to take in a huge bouquet on the day for Carol, my downstairs neighbour. I dashed out to the Hotel Chocolat shop and bought a large box of specialty chocolates, had them wrap it in hearts and flowers paper and drove round to Melissa’s apartment. Arriving whilst the tradesman’s entry system was still working I raced up the stairs, placed the gift outside her door and hurried back down, pulling up my jacket hood and keeping my head down as I exited just in case the chap in the basement apartment was about.
