A plan

I finally wake back up to find myself surrounded by trees, only these trees don’t look like anything in our territory. Their territory. It’s dark and I can feel myself getting a little cold. I have no idea where I am, then I realize it’s past 6 and I didn’t meet Megan. My only problem is that I have no clue where I am. I try the only thing I can think of and tap into our mate bond. She’s sad and cold just like me, only she’s in human form. I try mind-linking her.

Megan?

Nothing comes back to me.

Megan please. I-I’m lost and I’m scared.

Silence.

I get up on my paws and start walking in a single direction. I have to see something or someone eventually. Boy was I wrong. By the time I can sense a familiar feeling it was already dusk. I had somehow stumbled my way into the pack territory.

Are you there?

I hear the most beautiful voice speak in my mind. I can hear the sadness in her voice.

Megan?

Leah? Is that you?

It’s me. I’m so sorry.

Where did you go? Forget that where are you now?

I’m coming to you.

Please hurry. I’ve been out all night I’m sure people are going to start noticing.

Suddenly I take off running as fast as I can. I track the smell of cinnamon and follow it all the way to our spot. It’s a meadow with several different types of flowers. I walk in it until I find my mate sitting on a blanket. Her face is tear stained and she hasn’t slept for a while.

She holds out some clothes for me and I switch back to my human form before putting the clothes on.

“You’ve been in your wolf form all night?”

“Yeah, kinda. Some s**t went down.”

“I heard..”

“How’s Luke?”

“He’s fine.” She gently places her hand in mine and interlocks our fingers. I can feel the tingling where she touches. She puts her head on my shoulder and sighs.

“What are we going to do?” She whispers so quietly I almost didn’t hear her.

“What do you mean?”

“How do we fix this? You can’t be seen on pack territory and I can’t leave.”

I pause for a moment before I answer.

“Reject me.”

She looks at me as if it was the craziest thing she’s ever heard.

“Are you insane? I’m not doing that! The Moon Goddess made us mates for a reason. I’m not going to reject her gift. She doesn’t make mistakes she knows we’re right for each other.”

“It would be so much easier on you. I’m a rogue. I belong no where and you have a whole pack that you belong to. There’s no reason for you to have to go through this too.”

“I’m not doing it.”

“Fine, I will. I, Leah Lu-“

Just then she crashes her lips on mine and it’s like my whole brain turns to mush. Sparks set off through my entire body as I kiss her back. After a couple of moments she pulls away.

“I can’t get that feeling with anyone else.” She starts, “it’s always been you Lee. I’ve never even felt this way with Luke.”

“You’re right. This of going to be hard but we will find a way. We will be The Lady and The Rogue.” With that she laughs.

“I love you.”
