Celine helped her mother prepare supper while the Marriot's, Max, and Kyle chatted with her father in the living room.
She could hear the boisterous laugh of her father when Max responded to something her father had asked him.
A smile played on her lips.
The two men seemed to be getting along with her father really well. She was glad of it since he had been worried about the kind of man she would be working for.
"Logan has sure filled out nicely," her mother stated. Interrupting Celine's train of thought, "I noticed that you didn't talk to him at all though."
"Mom, I know you like Logan, but honestly. He did something to me in High School that is unforgivable. I really hate talking about it, but it has changed my views of him drastically," Celine said.
"What could he have done to you back then that was so terrible?" her mother asked.
Celine bit her lip. She wasn't sure that she should tell her mother the truth about what Logan and his friends had done in high school while he and his parents were in the living room of their house. Her mother was a Saint but the devil hid inside that normally calm exterior.
"I am always there to listen honey, but if you feel uncomfortable right now let's drop the subject," her mother declared when she took too long to answer the question.
Celine nodded, she just placed some vegetables in the pot when Logan appeared in the kitchen.
"I can take over Mrs. Mayor if you want to continue talking with my parents. Celine can fill me in on what needs to be done yet." he stated, a hopeful look in his gaze.
"Thank You Logan, but we're almost done here." stated Celine's mother, as she set her apron aside.
"Then do you mind if I pulled Celine away for a moment?" Asked Logan.
"Not at all. Go on honey, have a good talk with him outside in the backyard." urged her mother, making a shooing motion with her hands.
Celine sighed as she placed her apron on the counter and walked out the sliding door to the backyard with Logan behind her.
"What do you want to talk about?" she asked Logan the moment the door was shut behind them.
"You look good Celine. Then again you always were a looker," Logan complimented as his hungry gaze looked her up and down, "I never thought I'd get a chance to talk to you again."
"If it wasn't for my mother you wouldn't be talking to me at all," Celine said.
"Look, when are you going to move past the whole high school thing?" Asked Logan with annoyance, "We were kids, we were jerks but damn it Celine it's not like you didn't want it."
Celine gaped in pure shock at his words.
"Um... excuse me? but did I not say to get lost to your buddies when they cornered me? Did I not tell the to stop and leave me alone?" she asked, anger boiling inside her at Logan's pure stupidity.
"You didn't really mean it though right? I mean you were flirting with plenty of guys that day," brushed off Logan.
"I wasn't flirting with anyone. Least of all with your friends. Where on earth did you get that lame idea from." denied Celine in exasperation.
Logan shifted his gaze going into a frown. She wondered if he had thought she would just let the issue go.
"Come on Celine, you were hanging around so many guys, laughing and touching them!" Logan added, "What did you think it looked like to everyone?"
"Screw you Logan, it wouldn't matter if I was walking around naked. I had said NO N.O." she reiterated, "Which meant you were to stop what you were doing and leave me the heck alone. If Mrs. Bickerson hadn't shown up what would have happened?"
Logan's eyes shifted telling her exactly what would have happened. They would have r***d her.
"Anyways, your mom had been over a few days ago and said you would be home today. I was wondering if you would want to go out with me?" Logan said.
Celine was speechless, they had just clearly been discussing what had happened in High School and he all but told her that he and his friends wouldn't stop their assault and instead of apologizing and trying to repent or mend things with her he was asking her out like the past was a done thing.
"Forget it, I'm not interested in dating you," she answered.
"Come on Celine, just one date?" begged Logan, "Your mother would love to have me as her son in law!"
Celine laughed, "Once she finds out about what you and your friends did to me. She won't even talk to your parents." Celine threatened, "Besides I already have someone special in my life. Well, two someones actually."
Just then the sliding door from the kitchen opened and Kyle exited the house. His presence comforted Celine.
"I was wondering where you had gotten off to!" Kyle said, "Did you have a good visit with your old friend?"
"Mm.. as well as could be expected from a jerk," Celine replied, "He just asked me out on a date!"
"Did he now?" growled Kyle, his gaze landing on Logan, "You did tell him that you wouldn't be able to make it right?"
"Oh, that's right!" Celine exclaimed, " After tonight I won't be around anymore."
Logan glared at Kyle.
