Chapter 25 The king retches over the side of his bed. Beside the bed is a steaming pool of half-digested slime. Long strings of drool hang off his mouth. He is just as disgusting and repulsive as I’ve always imagined. Until now, I’ve done my best to avoid him. How could I watch the killer of my family and usurper of my father’s throne without wanting to strangle him? It was just best to avoid any contact with him. He’s not as big as I imagined him to be. He leans back onto his pillows—an aging man with sagging skin and thinning hair. His bed is an impressive four-poster with a fine linen canopy. He leans against oversized and colorful pillows made of animal skin. The grandeur of the royal furniture only serve to make him look even smaller, frailer. A part of me is glad to see him groan
