Chapter 54 The guards are gone from the hallway outside the queen’s chambers. There’s no one there but the witch. “They ran like frightened rabbits,” says the witch. “You can train a soldier to kill, but it’s a far greater task to train them not to run.” I realize she’s talking to someone. I look around. There’s nobody but the two of us. But she’s not looking at me. She’s looking down the hall. “So, spirit.
