Chapter Four: Training Together

Wisterias POV 17 years old When the guys left to prepare for training, I told them to go ahead without me. The reason I gave them wasn’t what was going on. I had told them I needed to do a few female things, and they happily left me to it, but I had something else in mind… I put on a tighter black sports bra that accentuated my breasts and a pair of tight black volleyball shorts and headed for the training grounds after applying a light layer of waterproof makeup. —------ Entering through the back of the training grounds because I was coming out of the pack house, I saw my mates waiting for the rest of the participants to arrive. Noticing that Jaxon was more relaxed than his brothers, I crept up behind him and jumped on his back, kissing his cheek. “Miss me?” I asked as I felt his body tense and ease when he noticed it was me. “You know it!” he said, pulling me to his front. “Why did you choose him to do that, too?” the other three asked, simultaneously pouting. “Because he was the most relaxed, and I figured I could shock him the most. Anything I do does not reflect that I care for any of you more than the other. I do things like surprise you based on calculated maneuvers, and I like all of you equally,” I said, laughing at them. After giving Jaxon a passionate kiss, I did a backbend off of him. When the other three brothers tried walking toward me, I darted in the other direction. “Catch me if you can, alpha brothers!” I yelled out, and all four of them ran after me. When Daren managed to grab my hand, I latched onto it, maneuvered it behind his back, pushed him forward, and started running to the left. I looked back to see him dumbfounded and asked, “You didn’t think I would make it easy for you, did you?” “I didn’t,” I heard coming from behind me as a pair of hands wrapped around my waist. Looking back, I saw Ryker and smirked. I reached my arm behind me around his kneck, acting as if I was about to kiss him, and yanked him forward over my shoulder, making him slam on the ground. “I thought that the people leading training were supposed to be the best?” I purred playfully. “They are…” Xaiden said, and after a long pause, his eyes glazed over, and he continued. “That's why you will be leading with us today.” I c****d my head to the side and narrowed my eyes in confusion. “What do you mean?” “We were talking about it when you jumped Jaxon. We think your skills can also help the worriers and truth be told us.” Daren said confidently. “Until now, you hadn't seen what I can do,” I said “Not true. You had us chasing you for seven hours, and then you defended against Xaidens wolf in human form without a wolf of your own yet. You can also hunt and gather,” Ryker said. “And with the defensive skills you just displayed, it further proves what we thought,” Jaxon added. “And what is it that you thought?” I asked in a playful voice. Wrapping his arms around my waist from the front, Xaiden whispered, “Aren’t you already supposed to know what we are thinking? But if you must hear it, our thought was that we have one badass little mate.” and rubbed our noses together. “I’m trying to give you privacy, and I don’t want to make you uncomfortable,” I said, looking into his deep emerald green eyes. “You can never make us uncomfortable,” Ryker said, wrapping his arms around my waist from behind, nuzzling his nose in my neck, and inhaling my scent. “Shock us? Yes. But make us uncomfortable? Never!" Daren said, taking my left hand and placing it on his cheek, kissing my palm. “Flower, we are never leaving your side, so don’t think anything you do or say can scare us off,” Jaxon said, kissing the top of my head from my right side. “Promise?” I asked in an innocent voice. “Promise.” They said in unison. I then placed my hands on Xaidens shoulders and pushed him down, wrapping my legs behind me around Ryker's waist, and pulled him with me as I flipped us over Xaiden, causing the three of us to land on the ground. I got up, and both groaned as they lay on the floor. As I stared at the two men on the ground laughing at them, I heard applause, whoops, and hollers. When I looked around, everyone in the training ground stared at us in amazement. I blushed when I noticed all eyes were on me, and I hadn’t seen people were watching us. I looked behind me at all four brothers now standing, looking at me with pride and love in their eyes. They walked up with Jaxon and Ryker to my left and Daren and Xaiden to my right. “Fall in line!” Jaxon commanded, and everyone lined up in rows with their hands behind their backs and feet shoulder length apart. “Listen up, everyone! This is Wisteria. We have known her since childhood and expect you to respect her as you do us.” Daren said sternly, looking at the crowd of worriers. “She will be leading training with us from now on. She is well versed in fighting, setting up traps, hunting, gathering, and masking her scent when needed.” Ryker added. “She has been part of the pack her entire life but has been on a mission for a long time. You might not remember or even have met her before, and she did not train here and learned most of what she knows out in the field. She has real-life experience; we could all learn from her as you witnessed.” Xaiden said, nodding at me to speak. “I would like to evaluate everyone individually today to see what I’m working with. I want to develop a training regime, splitting you into groups based on your skill level and working from there. If you wish not to spar with me, you may leave now and return when you grow a pair. This will not be for the light of heart; it will be the toughest training you have ever gone through. I am a straightforward person, and I don’t sugarcoat things. If you don’t wish to participate, you may leave and join one of the remedial training courses we will provide.” I said confidently, making sure I got my point across. After a brief pause to let anyone leave that wished to, I continued, surprised no one left, “Now pair off into your normal pairs or groups. I will come around and spar with you individually after I asses how you fight against your partners.” After everyone paired off, the brothers looked at me proudly. “I didn’t know you could be such a hard ass,” Ryker said mockingly. “Or that you knew how to train people,” Xaiden added confusedly. “When I was ten, I was taken in by a werewolf s***h witch family in the military. I trained with them every day for the next five years until the hunters killed the father, and I told them I wouldn’t put them through any more pain, and I was leaving. They insisted I stay with them, but I snuck out a week later. I keep tabs on them to ensure they aren’t in danger from the hunter, but luckily they left them alone and followed me instead.” I said as a single tear fell from my watering eyes, and I whipped it away. All four brothers enveloped me in a group hug and kissed my head. After hugging each of them, I pulled away. “We have a job to do. Let's get to it,” I said, walking towards the first group of two guys and a girl. The group stopped and bowed their heads in respect to the alpha brothers. I looked at the group and noticed that the two men far outclassed the girl. I asked the brothers, “Do you pair them based on skill, or do they pick their groups? Also, do you switch the groups as some grow and change in skill, or are these their constant groups?” “They picked their groups, and we haven’t changed them since. That’s how it's always been,” Daren replied sternly. “After today, we will pair them based on skill level and switch it up as their skill levels change,” I said and paused momentarily. “If that’s alright with you, Alphas?” I asked, looking at the four of them. “Make any changes you wish, Flower.” The four replied, nodding their heads. “Excellent,” I said, returning to the group before me. “Tell me your full name, age, and what type of supernatural you are,” I said to the group gesturing to the female to go first. “My name is Nadia Whitmore, and I’m fifteen years old. I will be sixteen in seven days,” Naidia said confidently. “My name is Tylor Whitmore, and I’m nineteen years old.” The man with a million-watt smile said. “Axel Whitmore, twenty-one years old.” The broody-looking man said gruffly. “I assume you are siblings? What type of supernaturals are you?” I asked, looking between the siblings. “Yes, we are, but I don’t find it polite of you to ask what supernatural creatures we are. We didn’t ask you,” Axel said, narrowing his eyes at me. When the four brothers stepped forward, I raised my hand and said, “Well, go ahead, ask me. I can’t expect you to trust me if I don’t trust you. Trust is a mutual thing that needs to be built upon,” I said. “Okay, what supernatural are you?” He asked, looking down at me. The entire training camp stopped and stared at us in shock. “I’m a werewolf….” I said and paused for a second and then continued, “And a witch and vampire.” There were several gasps across the training field, but I ignored them. I stayed rooted in place, staring directly into the cold icy-blue eyes of Axel. As what I said sunk in, he looked taken aback and looked at the alpha brothers questioningly. As the four brothers nodded, he looked back at me, confused. “Why would you share something like that with me? Let alone in front of the whole training field?” He asked in puzzlement. “As I said, I can’t expect you to trust me if I don’t have any trust in you. Training someone has everything to do with trust. You have to trust that I won’t lead you astray, and I have to trust that you won’t use what I teach you to harm an innocent. What better way of building trust than this? If you were to find out later, it would diminish your trust in me as your trainer and fellow pack member. This way, you don’t feel like I ever lied or deceived you.” I said assuringly and then asked again, “Now, what type of supernatural are you?” “I’m a warlock-werewolf hybrid,” he said. “Thank you. Now, what about you two?” I said, looking at the other two siblings. “I’m the same,” Tylor said, still smiling. “I’m a witch-vampire hybrid,” Nadia said, looking down without a trace of the confidence she had before. I walked up and put a hand on her shoulder. “Look at me,” I said in a stern tone. When she looked at me, I continued, “It’s nothing to be ashamed of, and I won’t pry and ask questions. Just know if you need someone to talk to, I’m here. I bet talking to a girl that shares both your traits would be better than talking to your older brothers.” She went wide-eyed in shock and then nodded. “Now, I want Tylor and Axel to spar first. No holding back, and everyone go back to their activities,” I said. The two brothers got into their fighting stances and circled each other, and then Tylor charged. He has sloppy footwork and is going for the apparent opening that Axel left purposefully to deceive him. As Tylor went to punch Axel in his left rib cage, Axel grabbed his wrist and flipped him onto the ground. “Tylor, Your footwork is sloppy, and you went for what was clearly a trap. Axel left that spot open to draw you in, and you fell for it. Pay more attention to how your opponent moves and acts before you attack. Axel, that was a nice strategy, but it won’t always work. You were paying too much attention to the opening. If he had changed his attack at the last second, you would have been the one to lose. You also didn’t achieve the maximum force you could have when flipping him. When you grabbed his wrist, you hunched over and could have lost your balance when he landed and fallen over yourself—leaving you open for someone to attack you. I’m going to take your stance, and you will attack me exactly like Tylor did,” I said, critiquing their fight. Getting into Axel’s previous stance, Axel charged me. When I grabbed his wrist, I pulled his arm up and yanked forward, then back, flipping him onto his back and knocking the wind out of his lungs. “When I said don’t hold back, I meant it. This is a perfect execution of the move you attempted, and I still paid attention to my surroundings.” I said as I helped him up. “I’ll do better next time,” Axel said respectfully. “And if it's not too rude of me to ask, how did you get that scar on the inside of your upper arm?” “Oh, this is my favorite scar to talk about!” I said excitedly and got confused looks from everyone. “I believe every scar is a reminder that you survived something, and they should be remembered as a reminder you won. So this scar happened in the same fight that I got the one on my shoulder. When I was fourteen, a seven-foot-tall hunter abducted a pair of witch-werewolf hybrid twins. I lived with the family and watched the twins while the older siblings and their parents were on a mission. I set the twins up to play and hung the laundry outside to dry. When I wasn’t paying attention, the man took them. I ran after him and jumped on his back, kicking the back of his knee, and he collapsed to the ground. I grabbed the twins and ran. He shot a crossbow with a silver tip at my shoulder, causing me to trip. He then sat on me and tried choking me as I blocked his hands; he ripped the arrow out and scratched my arm. When he tried to stab me with it, I grabbed his hand and shoulder and flipped us over. While he was disgruntled, I took the arrow, shoved it through his throat, and pulled it out. Grabbing the twins, I ran home, calmed them down, and patched myself up.” As I finished telling the story, I felt two hands on each of my shoulders and grasped them. “At fourteen? That must have been scary, and you were courageous.” Axel said in a sorry tone. “It was a normal occurrence for me. I’ve been running and fighting since I was eight, never getting a break. This pack is the safest for any hybrid. But out in the world, we are hunted and enslaved or killed. That is why I want everyone in this pack to have exceptional warriors to fight for them. This is my home, and if it's unsafe, there is a problem.” I said, looking him directly in the eyes. “I’m sorry I disrespected you, and it will never happen again.” He said, looking ashamed. “Never be sorry for being protective over your siblings, especially with me. You didn’t know anything about me, and I walked into your home and started barking orders. I would have reacted the same way.” I said in understanding. “Thank you, Beta!” He said in respect. The Alpha brothers laughed as I stifled my laughter. Xaiden walked up, patted Axel's shoulder, and said, “She’s not our beta man!” “She’s our Luna, our mate.” The brothers said together. Everyone's eyebrows went up to their hairline in shock, and their mouths dropped open. After the shock cleared, everyone on the training field knelt on one knee and bowed their head. “Get up. We are training. I did not come here to have you bow to me. I came here to train!” I said sternly, and they all stood up. “Everyone back to work!” As everyone started training again, I pulled the Whitmore siblings to the side. “I would like to take Nadia under my wing and train her personally. She has a powerful aura, and I believe she would benefit from more hands-on training. You don’t have to decide now, but I would like your reply soon. Now, get back to training before I have you running laps and doing push-ups all night.” I said to the sibling and walked to the next group. —----- Training continued until I had notes on every group and individual. “Okay, everyone, line up!” After everyone lined up, I continued, “You all did well today. I will have the new groups and schedules posted in two weeks. If you do not like your group or partners, get over it. This is training, not a playground. I will be grouping you based and your skill level, and your group may change as you hone your skills and become more proficient. Until then, take a break and relax. We will start training again two days after the postings.” I said sternly. “Yes, Luna!” They all said as they bowed their heads and headed toward the locker rooms. “OOOOh, THAT was HOT,” Xaiden said as he wrapped an arm around my waist and pulled me in for a kiss. I deepened the kiss and wrapped my arms around his neck, pulling him closer, so our bodies were flush against one another. “I couldn’t take my eyes off you,” Daren said, kissing my neck from behind, eliciting a soft moan from me into Xaidens mouth. Jaxon and Ryker each took a side and started caressing and kissing me. I pulled back hesitantly and said, “We can’t out here and not right now. We have stuff to do,” In a breathy voice, trying to catch my breath. “We want you so bad. Please?” Jaxon said, pleading with me. “The night of my birthday. I have too much to do right now. The four of you do as well. There is the alpha ceremony, the meeting with the other alphas, and afternoon training, and your mom has me on all the planning boards. I have to plan the alpha ceremony, set up the room for the alpha meeting, run afternoon training, and coordinate everything with your mother. We don’t have time.” I said in one breath as I felt overwhelmed. “She has you doing all that?” They all asked at once. “Yup!” I said, popping the ‘P.’ “That work is for the Lu….” Ryker started to say but then trailed off and started chuckling. “I should have known we couldn’t keep it from her; mother knows us too well.” “Yeah, I guess it's my unofficial Luna training. I got the e-mail this morning,” I said, holding on to the brothers that still surrounded me. “Well, let's get to it so we can spend the rest of our time with our little Flower,” Daren said, and they all kissed my head, and we walked inside to get ready for the guard meeting in two hours.
