"WHAT'S WRONG WITH A NORMAL LIFE?! WHAT TIME DO THEY COME FROM WHEN THEY SEND A LETTER FOR A FAMILY DINNER WHAT THE FROGGING f**k! YOULL BE COMING WITH ME, RIGHT? DON'T LEAVE ME!" Were the standard phrases Rosaline shouted throughout the house after reading the letter.
After Rosaline and Max saw me with an envelope in my hands, Max thought it would be a good idea to take that envelope away and pass it on to Rosaline. Boys and emotional intelligence zero. After reading the letter Rosaline spent the next half hour doing nothing but shouting, crying and not to forget eating.
Until she realized she only had 200 expensive dresses which apparently wasn't enough for her yet. So now she was getting ready to go shopping with us in the shopping center. Yeah, I finally got Max to come along since the invitation said "You and your guests". And I had to get my revenge on him for taking the envelope.
Max had only taken some old clothes with him since he didn't expect to be invited to an exclusive dinner party. So he urgently needed a tuxedo whether he wanted it or not he would wear one and I was going to take care of that. At first I didn't want to go with him to dinner, I would rather let go of my claws and anger at Rosaline's future husband, but hey free food doesn't fail anyone, right?
I was nervously waiting for Max and Rosaline in the entrance hall. I looked at my watch, it was already 17:00 and we were expected at 21:00. Normally that's enough time for normal people to choose an outfit, but then you don't know Rosaline yet. She is the slow motion version of a snail. Another 5 minutes went by and I was tired of waiting.
"Rosaline, Max bring your lazy butts down now or I'll leave without you!" I shouted upstairs.
"We're here!" Rosaline and Max ran down the stairs like mad, but Max stumbled down the penultimate but last steps so he hit the hard wall with his face, but that didn't stop Rosaline from running and rushing out to the car without even looking at Max and see if he was okay.
I heard a soft groan coming from Max who rubbed his head and gave me a crooked smile after he straightened up. "Does that girl have any feelings at all?" he asked sarcastically. His remark made me laugh.
"Poor wretch, just think of all the tasty food you get instead and the uncomfortable conversations. I said laughing "And the perhaps handsome ladies." he winks at me
"MAX!!" I shouted, before I could give my sermon he interrupted me "come. No one wants to test the patience of fashion god Rosie." giggling like little schoolchildren we got to the car. Max opened the door for me like a real gentleman and then got in.
"Are you ready to go to heaven!?" Rosie shouted. Max rolled his eyes "Just drive." We drove down the driveway on our way to the nearest shopping mall.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Are you sure?" Rosaline asked for the thousandth time in a row.
"YES! You look really beautiful in that dress. Any man would give anything to talk to someone like you Rosie. Believe me now," I said reassuringly.
"mhm, it won't be him." said rosie as she disappeared back into the paskotje
In the last hour Rosaline has fit and looked at up to 20 dresses. I couldn't see any more dresses and the prices even less. Luckily Rosie had an advantage. She was allowed to use her father's credit card unlimited. I know sounds like something a stereotypical brat would do, but... this was different?
"Amara"? I think I found the perfect dress! What do you think?" Rosie asked.
The curtain of the cubicle opened and Rosaline came out in a beautiful gray dress. The dress included Rosaline's perfect formations and just looked beautiful on her. I think I was drooling so beautiful was she in that dress.
"You look beautiful Rosie." I said. Rosaline winked "I know, darling. Now you try on this dress and soon we can check it out!" Before I could protest she pushed a dress in my hands and almost threw me in the paskotje.
I sighed when I saw what a dress Rosie had chosen for me. The dress literally left nothing to the imagination. It was short and made of amazingly soft black glitter fabric. I put on the dress carefully and looked in the mirror. I couldn't believe my eyes when I did that. "Is this me?" I muttered. The dress fitted perfectly as if it had been made especially for me.
"Are you almost ready honey?" I heard Rosaline ask "Yes, I think I'll take this one! I just have to get dressed!" I shouted back to Rosaline as I changed.
We were waiting at the checkout when Max came back from his own shopping adventure with a bag of guess resting in his hands. "Hey girls! And how are the fashion gods doing?" he put his arm around my shoulder which now served as a support for him.
"Yes after hours of nagging Rosaline we finally found something" I said sulking. Rosaline gambled a punch on my arm for my remark.
"Ouch! Be normal for a moment, be glad we came along," I said exaggerated. Rosaline sniffed with her nose and gave a destructive look that said shut up before I give you another punch. I could miss another punch like that so I kept silent until we had paid for everything.
We went outside the shopping center. It was already dark and the warm yellow lights illuminated the parking lot. It was amazingly warm outside since it was almost autumn. The three of us walked in a row to the parked car and went home to get ready.
"Glad to sit still Amara! I can't do your makeup like this!" Rosaline shouted at me in a maternal tone. I sighed, Max was already ready and waited downstairs for us Rosaline was also ready but insisted on doing my makeup and her. Normally I never wear make up, wasted effort I think.
"So look." Rosaline took the lipstick off my lips and pulled me rather dragged me to the mirror in the bathroom. she looked at her work of art and looked very proud and she could be I looked beautiful, I haven't felt that beautiful in a low time.
"Thank you" I gave Rosaline a hug "for everything" she rubbed my back. At the thought that I would probably never see Rosaline again after her marriage there were tears in my eyes. She was always there for me.
Now she pushed me away and grabbed me by my shoulder "It's okay Amara" and she gave me a crooked smile. "Now let's go before Max falls asleep." I laughed and we went down hand in hand.
Rosaline came down first and then I followed to the living room where Max was sitting on the couch. He was working on his cell phone. "Ehem, what do you think?" I asked insecure. Max finally looked up from his cell phone. I saw his eyes getting big and his mouth half open. I let a soft smile escape.
"Staring is rude, you have to know that," said Rosaline after she hit Max on the back of his head and he seemed to have regained consciousness. Max coughed and got up. He came at me with slow steps.
"You look beautiful Amara," he said in a sweet tone. I gave him a smile and looked at him from head to toe. He was wearing a burgundy tuxedo and had combed her back with some gel. I smelled his eau de cologne which smelled like burnt wood. I had to admit he didn't look bad either.
"You too Max." I had never been attracted to Max before, but he was changed he was... more attractive in every way. I had to blush from my thoughts and look at my feet. I felt his rough hands lifting my chin up.
"Please look at me. I've always liked your eyes," said Max in a hoarse voice. Behind me I heard someone mimicking a puke sound. "Are you almost ready lovebirds? The driver is here," said Rosaline as she grabbed my hand and pulled me away from Max.
She didn't let go of me until we got to the front door. I felt Ma's presence behind us. Rosaline opened the door and I saw the driver leaning against the limousine while he smoked a cigarette. The driver had had his best time I think. He had black hair with a grey stripe here and there. The wrinkles on his forehead could be seen from 2 meters away.
When we came closer he put out his cigarette and straightened his back "Miss Verondale?" he asked rather hostile. Rosaline had her poker face on when she answered "Yes, that's me".
"Ah, get in." he opened the back door for the two of us, but not for Max. Apparently he was allowed to open the door himself. I didn't hear Max mumbling when he came to sit next to me. The driver got in and started the engine.
I grabbed Rosaline's hand when I saw her trembling. "Everything's going to be okay." I whispered and gave her a warm smile. The driver drove full throttle away from the cottage.
We drove through streets I didn't know from Greece. They were quiet and quiet, everywhere you could see cute little restaurants until they were replaced by big country houses with people living in them who probably had too much money.
I grew up poor. My mother was single and only 20 when she got me, but she did everything to make me happy. I smiled when I thought back to her. I heard the car brake and almost crashed into the seat in front of me.
"Can you drive?!" I shouted to the driver without thinking. I heard a laugh coming from him that gave me the creeps "We're here" said the driver just before he got out and kept the door open for us. Then he helped us get out. Max was allowed to help himself getting out again.
We were standing in front of a huge mediterranean country house with a cream colored facade and beautiful roses in front of the entrance. It was beautiful. I looked at Rosaline but she was already walking to the entrance.
Apparently she was already doing this by her own house that was almost the same size. In a trot I walked to the rest but almost tripped over my heels. I looked at Max but he looked right in front of me so I decided not to say anything and just walked further behind the driver.
We were just on the threshold and the big oak door was already opened by a waitress who looked cordial and nodded at us "You are expected in the saloon, follow me" she said with a smile on her face and turned around.
The house was as spectacular inside as it was outside. I was probably drooling, but there was nothing I could do about it. The waitress opened a big glass door and we went in one by one. I was the last one to go in, but I heard loud voices coming from the salon.
Max was already deeply engaged in a conversation with a man who was a head taller and already looked 60, there was another man I estimated to be around 30 with deep black hair and brown eyes. Rosaline sat next to an imposing woman who radiated power in the comfortable designer seats and I got the shivers when she looked at me, but continued her conversation.
No one seemed to have really noticed that I had come in so I kept shuffling awkwardly into the doorway.
I was always bad at social activities like parties, always doing something embarrassing that made me want to die on the spot. I laughed at the thought of that one time I had knocked over the fondu pan and everything ended up on my cousin.
"A low voice came from behind me and asked, "Do you hate your dinners that way too? I turned around and looked straight into two light blue eyes. He had a smile from ear to ear on his face.
"Um I-I-I... Once again I did not know what to say, typical. Instead of answering I just stared at him. He had brown hair that had been cut short. His little wrinkles around his mouth made him quite cute.
"Is there something wrong with me?" he asked while laughing. Fantastic, Amara now he also thinks you're weird.
"No, I was just gone for a while," I said nervously "and yes, I hate dinners, but it's free food". I gave him a warm smile.
He laughed, his smile was warm and loud. "Ah, that's why you're here, for dinner." I felt my cheeks turning red. "And for my friend too, of course." he raised his eyebrow.
"That blonde?" he asked curiously "Yes, she calls Rosaline". We both looked in the direction of Rosaline.
I now heard loud footsteps approaching from the corridor and looked again at the entrance. There was a man standing in the doorway. When he came into the light I couldn't believe my eyes. I immediately recognized his amber-colored eyes. The man from yesterday.
Hi lovelies,
I know Spicy but still a boring chapter. But don't worry it's getting steamy in the next chapters!
