The big day arrived. I didn’t sleep at all that night. I was so overwhelmed and excited. I couldn’t wait to get ready for the graduation ceremony and for the following party. My mom bought me a beautiful dress. It was a strappy-backed red cocktail A-line dress with a deep décolletage. Like she used to say, “Nice things have to be showed off,” and I smiled.
I couldn’t wait to wear it.
Rachel came out from the bathroom already ready with her gown on and the academic cap on her head. She had been fast as a lightening.
