3. Chinese food

“I just wanted to remind you that next weekend Greg is having a get together for his daughter’s birthday.” I said as I stood from my desk and grabbed my purse. “Which daughter?” He asked in the deep alluring voice of his. “Gracie, she’ll be twenty three.” I responded as I glanced down at my planner. “What’s that?” He asked as we stepped outside. “It’s a planner so I can make sure I don’t over schedule or double schedule you.” I smiled up at him, his expression remained blank. “Hm.” Was all he responded, I gave him a slight nod as I walked over to my little blue car. My heart dropped when it wouldn’t start. Please God do not do this to me right now. I jumped when I heard a light tapping on my window. Nathan stood there, in all his gloriousness, wow I really need to stop drooling over him. “Car problems?” He asked as I opened my door and stepped out. “Yeah… she won’t start.” My lips twisted into a frown as I looked at my pathetic car. She was an old gal, made in 2012, sunbleached roof, mismatched side door mirrors. There were zip ties holding up my undercarriage because I ran over a dead deer. Don’t judge me! It was dark outside! “She?” Nathan’s brow quirked. “Yes she and her name is Cassandra.” I huffed as I crossed my arms. “Pop the hood, let me take a look.” Nathan practically demanded as he made his way to the hood of my car. I did as he asked and watched as he looked at my car's engine. He ran his hand through his hair as he sighed and messed around with random things. I had absolutely no idea what he was doing. When it comes to cars I am deaf, dumb, and blind. “When was the last time you replaced your battery?” I froze at his question, when did I last change it? “You do know you’re supposed to change it, right?” He peered at me from under the hood. “Yes, I know, I just don’t remember when I did it last.” I bit my lip, his eyes focused on the action for a split second before he turned back to the engine. He closed the hood with a slight slam. “I’ll give you a ride home.” Did I just hear him right? “Oh there’s no need! I could call someone to come get me.” I laughed awkwardly. “I’m taking you home.” There was no arguing, his word was final. Nathan POV I’m starting to think it was a mistake offering her a ride home. My car instantly filled with the smell of her. “Are you wearing perfume?” I couldn’t help, but ask. “Oh-um, it’s my body wash I think or my shampoo.” She looked up as she pondered the question. Whatever it was, it smelled like strawberries, it made me think of her strawberry blonde hair. I wonder what it would smell like if I buried my face in it. Where did that thought come from? I looked up when my phone started ringing, f**k. I pressed the button on my steering wheel to answer. “Nate! When will you be home?” Kendall’s high pitched voice rang out through my car. I watched as Violet tensed and glanced at the caller ID. It read “My Love”, I watched Violet frown and turn her attention back out of the window. “Give me about an hour or two, I’m working late.” I replied. “Are you driving?” She asked with suspicion in her voice. “Yes, I finishing up with a client.” “Okay, I love you, I’ll see you later.” She purred on the other end. “I love you too.” I quickly ended the call. The small space inside my car suddenly felt awkward. “Sorry, that was my fiance.” I for some reason felt the need to tell her. “Oh, okay.” Why does she sound disappointed? I snuck another glance at her, she was playing her hands in her lap. “It’s that third house on the right.” She said, not even looking up, she must know this road by heart. “I would like for you to attend the get together at Greg’s house.” I watched as her eyes widened. “Isn’t it a pool party?” She squeezed her hands together in her lap. “You don’t have to swim, there will also be barbeque and it will be a good opportunity for you to meet some of the clients that I regularly work with.” She nibbled on her bottom lip. For some reason I wanted to reach out and tug the lip from her teeth. “O-okay, sounds good.” She didn’t sound too certain of herself. “I’ll see you bright and early, I can use my brother's car tomorrow.” She smiled with the warm smile that tugged at my heart. “I’ll be here tomorrow morning, have a good evening, Violet.” I replied as she stepped out of my car. She simply nodded and headed to the house that I assumed belonged to her parents. “Welcome home, baby!” Kendall called from the bedroom of my apartment. She stood with her back to me, she’d just gotten out of the shower. She wore nothing but a thin towel around her body. I wrapped my arms around her waist and inhaled deeply. I fought back a frown at the smell of rose that emanated from her skin. I placed kisses up and down her neck and along her shoulders. She let out a soft moan as I pulled the towel from her body. “Someone’s in a mood.” She purred as she rubbed her ass against my quickly hardening c**k. I cupped her swollen breasts, playing with her n*****s. “I’ve had a long day.” I murmured into her neck. “Let me take care of you.” She husked as she turned and dropped to her knees before me. I looked down at her blonde head, running my fingers through her hair as she unbuckled my pants. Some part of me deep down wished that I was staring at strawberry blonde hair. Violet POV I was replying to an email when someone walked in through the front door catching my attention. It was a tall blonde woman with the most perfect body I’ve ever seen. She flipped her perfectly straightened hair over shoulder with her manicured hand. “Hello, can I help you?” My question almost made her jump. “Who are you?” She looked down her straight nose at me. “I’m Mr. Harrison’s secretary.” I smiled at her. “Nate didn’t tell me he hired a new girl.” She popped her hip, placing her hand on it. “Oh, it’s only my second day.” “Hm, interesting.” She walked towards Nathan’s office. “Excuse me, ma’am.” She stopped and turned to me with her brow raised. “Mr. Harrison is in a very important conference call right now.” I spoke as I stood from my desk. “Well, nothing is more important than his fiance.” For some reason she put an emphasis on ‘fiance’ as she looked me up and down. I tried to speak again, but she’d already opened his office door and stepped inside. I shrugged my shoulders and turned my focus back to my computer. I had just replied to one email when I heard Nathan’s office door slam. I jumped slightly at the noise. “I was just trying to bring you lunch, Nathaniel!” The tall blonde yelled as she stormed out of the building. I tensed when I heard his office open again a few moments later. “I’m so sorry, sir, I tried to stop her.” Nathan held up a hand to stop my word vomit. “Please don’t apologize, Kendall doesn’t listen to anyone.” He said as he stood in front of my desk. “Did you want some chinese food? She brought enough for two and it’s our lunch hour.” He held up the takeout bag. “Uh yeah, that would be great.” Right on time my stomach growled, loudly. “Oh my god that is so embarrassing.” I blushed as I cupped my stomach. “I should have fed you sooner.” He pulled up a chair right next to my desk, taking me by surprise. “I hope you don’t mind if I eat with you?” He said after he saw my shocked expression. “I don’t mind at all! I was just surprised you wanted to eat with me I guess.” I laughed awkwardly as I took the take out box from his hand. “Well, eating alone can become quite boring.” I inhaled the contents of the take out box and almost moaned. “Are there any forks?” I asked as I dug through the bag. “Forks? It’s chinese food, you use chopsticks.” I blushed as I looked up at him “Uh, I don’t know how to use chopsticks.” Now it was Nathan’s turn to be surprised. “Give me your hand.” He demanded as he held out his own. I gently placed my hand in his, it was warm and practically engulfed mine. “Alright now place this finger here.” He bent my fingers against the side of the chopstick. “And place your thumb here.” He pressed my thumb against the side of the chopstick. “Now pinch.” When I tried to pinch I accidentally sent one of the chopsticks flying, “Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry.” I gasped as I cupped my mouth. “Let me see a rubber band and some sticky notes.” He said after he pulled a new set of chopsticks. I watched as he folded up the sticky notes and placed them at the top between the chopsticks. He then wrapped the rubber band around in a way that secured it. “Here you go.” I grabbed them once he extended his arm out to me. I used them to pinch the air a few times. The paper and rubber band held the chopsticks together like tongs, I let out a little laugh. “Where did you learn that?” “When I was a kid I couldn’t use chopsticks, so my dad would use that trick.” A faint smile graced his lips. “He sounds like a great dad.” I watched as his face dropped. “Yeah, he was, he died six months ago.” My heart dropped into the pit of my stomach. “I’m going to finish my lunch in my office, I have work to catch up on.” Nathan quickly stood and walked down the short hall to his office. I felt like such an i***t, but how was I supposed to know his dad was dead? I sighed as I dug into my general tso’s chicken.
