“Nicole said you’d need to try once to know if you wanna go two more times.”
I raise my eyes to Barbara.
“But she said you.”
My eyes travel to Nicole. She shrugs and sips whiskey.
“Who would it be for you?” She asks.
“No one,” I answer and turn my phone face down to pour myself a drink. “Let’s stop talking about things that would never happen.”
“I agree,” Luke says, glancing at his watch. “In other news, Alex is about to be ten times richer… how’s the merger and acquisition going?”
“Slow. I’m losing a lot first before I even see a cent.”
“But you’ve got yourself a priceless wife, and by this time next year, you’d probably be a trillionaire?”
“This time next year…” I muse, sipping whiskey.
I’ll probably be in hell.
