My fingers curl behind him, and in a second, I give him another nod. I should ask questions, but my throat seems shut. “You sounded so beautiful… as beautiful as you looked.” My curled fingers form fists as my chest swells with heat. “You’re beautiful. You’re perfect. You’re wonderful… Never forget. And say these to yourself every day. I’ll ask you about it every time we see each other. Will you do it?” I nod. “That’s my girl.” He kisses my head again. “Let’s get you home.” *** At home, I quickly head upstairs to wear fresh underwear, change out of my clothes into a dress, and style my hair into a ponytail. So many thoughts are running through my head, but now is not the time to think. Dinner is being served, and I should be there, by Alexander’s side. The table is set for a feast
