Outside the room, Belle’s voice rose, sharp and biting, as she confronted Jade. It was loud enough for everyone in the room to hear without straining.
“Enough of the theatrics, Jade! You’re angry, fine. But this isn’t about you.”
“You think I don’t know that?” Jade hissed, his voice barely containing his frustration. “You think I don’t see what’s happening here? Kimberly is slipping away, and we’re wasting time playing doctor instead of dealing with the real problem, Lisa.”
“Then go deal with her!” Belle shot back, her tone venomous. “Do whatever you want, but don’t you dare stand here and criticize us for trying to save her.”
