The portal’s light vanished behind me, leaving the cool night air pressing against my skin. My boots crunched against the dirt as I steadied myself, the cabin coming into view. Relief flooded me; for a moment, I feared the portal would take me elsewhere. Belle stood outside, leaning against the porch railing. Her arms were crossed, her sharp eyes catching mine immediately.
