I signed my new name where he showed me, then took the shiny, new debit card from his hand. I didn't have a purse or a wallet to put it in, which struck me as funny so I grinned a little. He shoved the papers into a FedEx envelope and sealed it, "We'll have to give them copies of your Social Security card and driver's license when they show up, but this is all they need for now."
"How did they do this so fast? Normally it takes weeks for a debit card to arrive?" It had my new name on it, the name I'd picked out only yesterday. How was that possible?
Derek answered, "There are wolves in high places. I called CanUS from the plane yesterday while you were asleep. Your card, checkbook, and the forms arrived by special courier while you were in the tub last night."
