The sight of David walking out of Alaric’s apartment lingered in my mind long after we walked into the apartment.Something about the way he moved, so secretive, so guilty, made me hesitant to face him head-on. Maybe it was fear. Or maybe it was the growing suspicion gnawing at me. Whatever it was, we turned away, and now, as we sat in Alaric’s cluttered study, I couldn’t shake the feeling that we’d made a mistake.
