Chapter 1

BOOM BOOM BOOM. I groggily opened my eyes. The sun light was slowly seeping into the room. I squinted my eyes through the semi darkness. BOOM BOOM BOOM. 'GET UP GET UP GET UP FART FACE' my 10 year old brother Alex yelled while banging on his drum. He threw a stinky sock at my head, cackled and ran out. I looked over at my clock and groaned. 'Its only 530 you jerk!' I yelled out to him. I swear he was put on this earth to piss me off. I jumped out of bed SPLASH. My feet landed in a big tub of water. 'Aaahhhhhhhhh I hate you Alex! MUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMM!!!' I screamed yelling for her to tell him off. I'm over it. Over all this crap. I turn 16 tomorrow and I just want to move out away from this.

I dry my feet and walk over to the mirror. I see a girl with blonde curly messy hair, blue eyes, braces, tanned skin and lots of freckles staring back at me. I sigh wishing i was good at putting on makeup. I always go makeup free with baggy clothes. I stick my hair into a messy bun and get dressed. Thank goodness I get to go camping with my friends this weekend. I can't wait. There will be ten of us altogether. We have convinced all our parents to let us have a weekend alone. The guy i have had a crush on forever, jake, will be there too. He is one of my best friends but I've just been afraid to make any moves. This weekend is it. I'm going to suck it up and ask him out.

I head downstairs where mum has Alex sitting calmly at the table eating his eggs. He looks up at me and smirks. Mum catches him and clips him around the ear. Mum is so beautiful, she always looks like she is dressed to impress, with her perfectly fit clothing, her hair and makeup done. 'I am going to be dropping you off at the camp-site at 10 are you sure you have packed everything you need?' She said. 'Yeah I have mum im so excited' I said with a huge grin. She handed me a large gift bag and said 'because I won't see you tomorrow I wanted to give you your gift now'. I slowly opened it to find a hiking bag with a compass, flint, sleeping bag, first aid kit and a fold up fishing rod. 'Wow this is awesome thanks mum' I smiled. I had really wanted that stuff. 'Your such a boy. A nature freak boy. Why aren't you more girly?' laughed Alex. Mum clipped him around the ear again as I walked back to my room feeling a bit hurt. He is such a jerk
