He’d only scoff and shook his head, that maddening ambiguity that left me dangling. I stood up and walked to the full-length mirror, crossing my arms over my chest. The man who’d married me to shut down gossip headlines might decide my little exhibition was beneath his notice. Or worse, he might come, but only to remind me of the boundaries he’d drawn last night. I turned sharply and marched to the wardrobe, yanking the double doors open with more force than necessary. Tomorrow is not just about my paintings, it’s about my name and my reputation. I’m finally stepping into light, instead of hiding in Sofia’s shadow.
