Chapter 3 The Untold Stories

As the serpent suggests, I visit him once again inside the cave. I sit there waiting for the dragon to tell me tales as he promises.

The dragon thoughts are far and deep; he seems to dig from his memory, the past that is forgotten and never told.

The dragon starts to speak;

“There was a time when humans, mythical creatures, wizards, and dragons live harmoniously. There are no barriers between the Querencia and other worlds. The five Kingdoms acknowledge the power and government in human society, and so humans respect ours. That World is too idealistic to be true, but it is true. I met a beautiful Maiden who ruled the mermaid’s Fortress. She is fierce and gorgeous. I am stunned by her. The Maiden instantly captures my heart; her name is Rossille. Maiden Rossille is not only a beauty but also a warm, kind heart. I fall for her. We get married and have three daughters in the years we spent our life as a married couple. I devoted my life as his loyal husband until the day she died.” The dragon reminisced

“What is the cause of Maiden Rossille death?” I ask curiously

“The battle between the good wizard and the bad wizard takes the life of my wife.” The dragon confessed.

“What is the World like in the times of wizards and dragons?” I am honestly intrigued

“The wizards they are the most powerful mythical creatures, they do have special powers that none of any mythical creatures have. They have the innate power of energy. They balance both good and bad energy. In that way, harmonize the living of each creature who harbors life and energy. One wizard has a partner- an upright and reliable dragon by his side. The dragons are the guard of the wizard. The wizard has an important role in the balance of life. The wizards are respected, their wisdom helps to uplift creatures' spirit, and that can contribute to the good energy that most needed of our World. The light and dark. When the light is present, there is dark. We know very well that night and day exist for a reason. Humans need to learn to respect the coexistence. Value the darkness in the times of the absence of the light. Value the light in the absence of darkness, but imbalance happens. As the World populate, ambitions grow. Humans and other creatures become greedy for fame, power, and money. For those reasons, the dark energy rises and overcome the light. The dragons as a reliable partner of the wizards are disturbed. Wizards separated by two alliances, the dragons become their front liners in the battlefield.” The dragon sadly narrated

“Are there any dragons left?” I asked

“yes, there is like me; they are captured and caged. Some are freely roaming, some have a hiding place, and I do not know where it is for, in this cave, I am trap for so long.” The dragon resent

“your daughter Maiden Louvierelle might have a reason why she chained you in here.” I tried to appease the dragon.

‘maybe she has but her feelings towards me; her anger I cannot amend it.”The dragon sadly reveals

“I have been fooled by the bad wizard who is now the Elders. They are hiding their true nature in a human form. Their greed has no limit. They first destroy their kind, eliminate all the good wizard, and the next is to control the humans for them to do that, they need to take over the minds of the Royalty first.” The dragon looks afar.

“The Elders has one fear, and that is the birth of the twin Gifted in the other World. There is a prophecy that when a twin Gifted is born, one will harbor the light energy, and the other one is the dark energy. The Gifted in the other World will harbor the energy that they wanted to contained so badly. The Gifted who harbors the dark energy, the King of the Forbidden of Forest is the Elders greatest enemy.’ the dragon fiercely said

“The Gifted who harbors the dark energy.” I take a mental note.

I’m still baffled in many things. I am eager to know more about the past, but I heard a sound coming near. I stand up upright and hide quickly.

Sweat is bidding in my face; I do not want to get caught by Maiden Louvierelle that I am speaking to his father, and I know about the secret of their family. I hide well.

After Maiden Louvierelle visits, I bid the dragon goodbye for this day and promise him I will come back tomorrow to know about the history of the wizards of the dragons.

The next day I visit the dragon once again after my lectures and class; it becomes my routine.

“Tell me how did it happen?” I am ready to hear the stories of the past once again.

“It happens when a known wizard Adeus, visits the human government. Adeus need to talk to the leader to be kind and upright for his people, but the President in the human World shows him some extraordinary and remarkable plan and what they can gain if that plan comes to life. Adeus's mind had been corrupted by that politician to gain what they want; his greed eaten him. Despite being lost in the wrong ideas, he has his upright dragon by his side, and that is my friend Cynr, he is a strong fire breathing dragon. Cynr can fly and a strong fighter on the battlefield. I fear for Cynr’s life every single time he goes to war, and Adeus sent him without regrets or fear that he may die. Cynr is loyal and serves his master's wizard well. The wizard and dragons suppose to fight together in the battle. The wizard will guide the dragons, he will be the offense while the dragons are the defense, but Adeus let Cynr battle in the fight on his own. Cynr is my friend, and it breaks me to hear how he is willing to risk his life to protect Adeus for he thought he is doing if for the greater good of the World.” The dragon bowed his head, his eyes reflect sadness, and I touch his scaled skin, his eyes blink.

“Adeus is the leader of the council?” I’m about to say the name, but I held it in

“yes, he is.” the dragon confirms

‘Adeus is the Elder’s leader?” I clarified

“yes, he is.” The dragon declared

“Adeus established the Elders Council for it is an idea proposed to him by a politician in the Human World.” I am shocked at the revelation.

“yes,” the dragon short answers.

“How could he forget about his kind and take the deal that politician offers him? How could he agree? I am furious

“greed, money, power, and fame.” those are the reasons he instantly agreed.

“Adeus is greedy for power. In the wizard, non is higher or lower. They are all equal. They are all equally powerful and can be of help in both humans and other creatures. The wizards humble themselves. They never treated any human or creatures is lower to them. They give words of wisdom, and they treat dragons as allies and partners. The wizards and dragons work vigorously for the sake of the human and other creatures well being.” The dragon’s eyes are full of regrets.

As my desire to know about the World before us, I visit the dragon serpent every day, and it’s funny how I realize I still did not know his name and call him a dragon.

One day I visit him; I got the courage to asks him.“what is your name?”

“Raiden,” the serpent dragon answered.

I bow and politely greeted him, “Nice to meet you, Sir. Raiden.” I smile.

 I cannot figure out if the dragon is smiling, maybe because I did not even see any dragons before, not even in my wildest dreams, and seeing a dragon serpent in front of me makes me feel in awe.

After I found that Adeus is the Elder Leader and he fears only one the birth of the twin Gifted in the other World for that reason, it thrills me and looks forward in the day that the flame twin with fate is born.

There is some vague statement left in me; the Passage separating the Human World and mythical creatures World.

"How did it appear?” my interest is piqued.

“As soon as the good wizard finds out about the dark wizard plans: now the Elders. They held each other hands, give their power and energy to create the Passage. They risk their lives to make the Passage that will protect both worlds for evil deeds. It will balance the energy in both worlds. The first descendant of the Passage is the last remaining good wizard in their clan, and that is Master Xavion (the Master of Light Energy); his parents transfer all their power and energies to their son Xavion. They know their son will carry on a noble purpose.” The dragon’s voice is full of admiration.

“The Passage is existing now because of the sacrifice that the good wizard had made,” I concluded.

“How did the war happens?” I know I am slowly getting closer to the truth.

“The war should not happen if Adeus did not camouflage himself as the King's right hand. He influenced the Royal Family to convince the King and declare war for the mythical creatures. The whole force of the Enchanted Fortress attacks the Forbidden Forest. The dragons lead by Cynr breath fire here and there that cause rapid-fire forest in the Forbidden Forest that hurt mythical creatures and wild animals. I have no way to warn Cynr, is all a trap. Adeus also fooled me. I smell something stingy. I collapse, and when I wake up. I nod in all Adeus commands, I walk and move like his puppets. I cannot control my body. I am trying to get a grip; I know the love of my life lives in the Forbidden Forest. My heart shatters when I saw the forest is devastated by fire. The sea where the Mermaids Fortress, boiling due to hot temperature, and most of the mermaids suffocated. My wife Maiden Rossille did not leave the Mermaids Fortress until all are certainly safe, and no single mermaid left behind. Maiden Rosille risks her own life to make sure her kind is all safe and well. After the war destroyed a lot of properties: the land, the plants, the source of food of many creatures are all gone in a blink of an eye; the mythical creatures got weak and starved in food shortages. My wife Maiden Rosille weaken day by day until one day she cannot make it. My wife left me with our three daughters, and she made me promise that I will take care of our daughters, make sure they are good and well that is her only wish, and I make sure my daughters are living their life the way their mother asks of me, but I cannot control their emotions towards me. They cannot accept the fact their mother died and all their pent up anger; they release it to me, and I am willing to take all those as long as they live.”
