Chapter 6 My Mission

I have a dream about Raiden’s story. The whole scenarios flash like a movie as if I am there, an inspector.

I wake up, grasping my breath. I know my life is not ordinary after I met Raiden and learn about the history of the mermaids.

Raiden wants to be free. He wants to stay in the dragon’s sanctuary, but Maiden Louverielle agrees to unlock him from his chain when the King of Forbidden Forest shows himself and saves him.

The King of Forbidden Forest; they said he come from the World of humans. The Gifted that harbors the dark energy will change the lives of the mythical creatures in the Forbidden Forest.

There is a literal fence build by the King of the Querencia Kingdom to isolate mythical creatures from the Forbidden Forest.

The fence built by the King stands tall; it makes us feel apart from the other creatures.

I heard about the young Princess Aetheria of Querencia Kingdom despite his father's greed for fame and power to win the war and become the powerful Kingdom among the five Kingdom.

The young Princess Aetheria has a kind heart for all creatures. She feeds the citizens affected by war, those who are wounded and hungry. Regardless of their Kingdom, the young Princess serves without expecting anything in return. A lot are badly affected by the war.

The young Princess's name is a topic of mythical creatures, for they have hope in her that she will end the chaos that is oppressing the mythical creatures.

The name of the young Princes, I engrave it in my memory. The current Queen of Querencia is weak and a puppet of the King. The King, who is brainwashed by the Elders to push their agenda and feed their greed.

Our Maiden Louverielle is strong-willed, and no one can break her law when she made her decision.

I still aim to be like Maiden Louverielle, to be courageous, she is strong and admirable. Maiden Louverielle is my role model; she is the reason I want to be a Maiden.

A Maiden life is not easy, but I am willing to take that road. I can see how bravely, Our Maiden Louverielle, taking all weigh of her duty in her shoulder. The Maiden's personal life is not a reason for me to disrespect her.

I visit Raiden. I wonder If being chained for years makes him weak. My question answered when I witness Raiden restless, scrapping his claws in the stones, coughing.

My heart swells as I watch him unable to move; he cannot even swim in the swamp of water near him, his chain giving him a hard time to shift in places to places.

I come near him, make my presence felt. He stares at me, usually pretends he is an upright, mighty dragon. Raiden makes sure not to show me that weak side of him.

I sit by his side, waiting for the storytime. Raiden seems uncomfortable; he drinks water in the swamp. He can reach the swamp and drink some water.

“What do you want to know? I think I tell you everything,” Raiden stated.

“The war between the black wizards and good wizards before it happens I want to know about the good wizards and their Council. I want to know about Master Xavion, the Master of Light Energy, and how he will know that the Gifted who bare the dark energy is born,”

“I see for a young mermaid; your mind thinks beyond what presents to you, and that is a good trait,” Raiden praises me.

“It takes time before Master Xavion shows himself to the dragons, whos left in the war. Adeus' greed to overruled all the creatures, the mythical creature, and humans. It leads him to the idea that he can surrender his wizard form into human form. Adeus, can monitor the movements of the Royals and control the King well in his new position as Elders." Raiden clarifies

"Master Xavion exists in the times the collective energy of positive waves connects the Atracia City- the Human World to the Querencia and the four Kingdom (mythical creatures World). When the Passage appears, Master Xavion reveals himself as the Guardian of the Passage. The Royals amaze in the power of the Passage; it is the access to the Human World but only the chosen Gifted in the Royal Family in the most powerful Kingdom; the Querencia Kingdom bare the chosen Gifted that can pass through the Passage and that privileged is envy by the other Kingdoms. Master Xavion offers himself as someone who trains the Gifted and someone who finds the Gifted in other World (Human World). Master Xavion is the key to find the King of Forbidden Forest, the man that can free me from this chain,” Raiden confesses to me.

“If Master Xavion can find the Gifted from other World, the King of Forbidden Forest? How come the Gifted has the power to free you?” I am curious

“The Gifted who bear the dark energy is the King in this Forest. All the mythical creatures that naturally bare the dark energy as their power will naturally heed him as the King. My daughter, Louverielle, may be tough and stubborn, but if the Gifted orders to free me. My daughter cannot go against nature; her energy bows to him.” Raiden explains to me

“It means we need to find the Gifted who bare the dark energy because he is the King of Forbidden Forest and the one who will free you, but how can Master Xavion find him? My never, ending questions come rushing in my mind.

“Only Master Xavion knows, and the tale of the last good wizard is best to narrate by him. I want to listen to Master Xavion's story, too. After the war, I never have the chance to talk to my kind. Cynr comes to me and informs me he grants his master Adeus wish to be in human form. He is free; his master's wizard rewards him that freedom. Cynr does not know where to go, but the young Xavion appears in front of us and tells him he has a place for them. Cynr convince me to come with them for dragons are few, and they want to protect our few kinds that are left. I promise Cynr, I deal with my matters first, then I follow him, but that never happens. After the death of my love, Rosille, My daughter Louverielle put a potion in my drink, and I wake up in my dragon form, chained here for years.” Raiden's voice emits loneliness.

The dragon gazes at me, hopefully,  “Go to Master Xavion, and help him find the Gifted who bare the dark energy.” Raiden convinces me.

My heart stomps in excitement; I seek for adventure. My mother is against it, but I know if I say my teacher assigns me a project to swim the vast ocean for research of shells and planktons. She can permit me.

“Do not let your mother know, ” Raiden answer my confusion.

“How did you know what I was thinking?” I am curious

“I did not, I guess it; your forehead furrows, and you are thinking deeply. You have been a good daughter and concern about your parents. You do not want them to be a hindrance to our mission. Do not let them know; this is our secret,” Raiden voice is firm.

“How can I reach out to Master Xavion? He is in the Enchanted Forest.” I voice out my worry.

“I will give you the access to enter the other Mermaid Fortress, that gift is only given to the Maiden,” Raiden eye me as if challenging me.

“You can?” I utter out of excitement

“Yes, I am a serpent dragon. A powerful mythical creature among the sea creatures. Dragons of what kind, we have the power to grant a powerful desire of your heart. One wish that can pour your energy into your heart desire can be your dominant energy. As a seawater dragon, I can ignite that energy in you so you can use it to cross the Fortress borders and meet Master Xavion in the Enchanted Fortress. You have to be careful not to be seen by any of the mermaids in the Enchanted Fortress. As I told you, we will do this secretly. I give you this mission. At the right time, you will be the Maiden of the Forbidden Forest; you have the power to cross the mermaid's borders. In that newly acquired power you possess, you can easily have the crown and be the next Maiden as you wish,” Raiden persuades me.

My heart is in glee. I agree to do the mission as it favors my dream to be a Maiden. The dragon can help me achieve it. In exchange, I help him free from this cold cave. I notice no matter how Raiden tries to hide the fact that staying here chained makes him weaker, no matter how much he acts mighty in front of me. I witness how his body twitches, for he has limited surroundings.

I let Raiden knows that it will take time for me to visit again. I will swim and cross the Mermaids borders between the Enchanted and Forbidden Fortress. I show up to Raiden one more time before I head in my mission.

Raiden makes me close my eyes, sit cross legs. He asks me to meditate. For a while, I do not have any concept of time. I open my eyes, and I see my energy is vibrating, flowing in my body.

“Miara, your brave heart will take you places, no mermaids go into. Your journey will be vast and full of adventures. You will meet a lot of people that will challenge you and test your spirit. In time, you will meet the right people that can be a help on your journey. You might get lost along the way but follow your heart. Follow where your spirit lies. Your heart intention is the key for you not to get lost in all the negative forces that eaten one soul. Be a warrior for the weak. At the right time, you will be the Maiden but for now, take your journey to be well equipped in the responsibilities that lie ahead of you. Miara, I know you can find the King of Forbidden of Forest. Take him here, and let him free me. I know you can win your mission. I’ll wait for your comeback,” Raiden hopeful plea reaches me, and for that reason alone. I am more determined to win this battle.

I gather all my courage. In the night when my parents asleep. I leave a note; saying I will go, work for my essay project. I am lying, I say; I swim near the area, and I need time to write the essay. I come back when I finish.

I am hoping my parents will buy it, but I remember Raiden gives me a herb that he told me to rub in the rock that I scribbled. Raiden said that If that herb smell by my parents. They will let my alibi pass, and I am hoping for the power of the herb charm to my parents. Raiden reminded me that the charm effect only lasts for three days, so I better come back before the charm effect fades off.

I never swim far and reach miles, but I feel the power that Raiden awaken in me. I can feel my body is light. I can move lightly in water. I swim like I am the water. My energy lights up and glows in the dark among the night fishes, jellyfishes, and night sea monster. I swim with them.

An ordinary mermaid will not swim far from our Fortress, will not swim along with the sea night monster, and big fishes for they can harm us. The energy that flows within me; it tames the sea creatures. They calmly swim with me, guide me to where I should go. They give me the way.

The beautiful whale swims with me together with dolphins and sea turtles. I am delighted, feeling this light, having my freedom to swim with the scariest night creature such as sharks and a sea monster at night while swimming with the wondrous beauty of the sea- the whales and dolphins in the morning.

These seem like a dream; my fins and tail changed. It is more vibrant and colorful now. I can see how beautiful it is when the sunlight hits my tail and fins, reflects its color. I know for sure in this kind of tail, I feel; I am suitable to be the next Maiden, and it excites me.
