CHAPTER TWO: THE PREGNANCY

Helena could not figure out where all these were coming from. Perhaps, her enemies are at work. She took the written note, made sure she locked her door, then went to bed. She had already made up her mind that she was leaving the pack. She could not bear the pain of seeing the one she loves with her best friend.

Early the next morning, as she was preparing to leave the pack, her phone rang. It was the wolf that visited her the previous day.

“Greetings, Helena. Hope you're better today than yesterday. I called to check up on you” she inquired.

Helena let out a slight smile

“Yes, I’m fine today. Yesterday was terrible but today is better than yesterday” she replied. I'm…eh……” she paused.

The wolf is very sensitive and smart.

“Helena, you wanted to say something. Is there something you want to talk to me about” she asked, her voice low but firm.

Helena was contemplating whether to let her know she was leaving the pack. She made up her mind to tell her but after a few seconds she changed her mind not to tell her because she may discourage her from leaving.

“Eh …. Not really. I didn't want to say anything. I just wanted to know if you’re fine” she lied.

There was a short pause.

“Alright. We’ll talk later” she immediately hung up.

The call reminded Helena of everything that happened yesterday and she started sobbing again.

She quickly packed her things and left the pack without notifying anybody.

She went very far from her former pack and settled there.

Months later, Helena became very very sick. She was treating herself(self medication) but it was getting worse and worse that her spirit was gradually leaving her. She decided to visit her doctor to know the exact thing that is wrong with her.

“Doctor, I’ve been under the weather for weeks and it was getting worse and worse everyday. I want to be strong again”

The doctor nodded.

He checked her BP and pulse

The doctor shook his head.

“When was the last time you saw your monthly flow?” the doctor asked.

Helena immediately raised an eyebrow. She was surprised to hear that from her doctor.

“Last two months” I replied, surprise written all over my face

The doctor smiled.

“I’ll be running a pregnancy test for you. Let's know where the whole problem is coming from.”

Helena nodded in agreement.

The doctor went ahead with the test and after some minutes, the result came out.

“Congratulations, Madam. You are two months pregnant.

Helena was shocked. She never worried when the doctor said he was going to run a test because she never believed the test would be positive. Now, the result is positive and she doesn't know whether to be excited or not.

“Madam, are you okay? You look carried away” the doctor inquired, his voice very soft.

Helena almost jumped up when she was tapped because she was deeply lost in thought.

“Yes sir…. I'm very fine. Thank you sir. Can I take my leave now?” Helena asked, she was not really getting herself so she needed to go in order to digest the news better.

The doctor glanced at her again.

“Are you sure you are fine? Well, you can now go but ensure you take your drugs when due for the benefit of you and your baby” The doctor explained.

Just then, one of the wolves that came to run some test whispered something into Helena's ear.

“I overheard the doctor congratulating you that you are pregnant but you never showed any excitement. Please if you don't want the baby, can you nurture this pregnancy, I’ll take care of you till you are due. After giving birth, I’ll have the babies while I pay you off” he explained himself, with determination written all over his face .

Helena turned immediately to see who was talking to her. She glanced at him for a few seconds without saying a word. She opened her mouth to speak but couldn't say anything..

The wolf was still waiting for her response but she couldn't say a word.

His last words echoed in her mind.

“After birth, I’ll have the babies and pay you off”

Was this exactly what she wanted for herself?.

Is she really pregnant or did the doctor make some mistake? she thought aloud.

Helena was so confused that she was losing her mind. She managed and carried herself to her apartment .

She brought out the test result again and started going through it again. As she was going through it, tears were streaming down her eyes.

“Who is responsible for this pregnancy?” she asked herself.

There was a brief silence

“Kelvin of course” she answered herself

Remembering Kelvin and how they had the passionate night together that resulted in pregnancy, she threw herself on the floor and started sobbing uncontrollably.

Helena is not a flirt and has not had s*x all her life.. Kelvin was the only one that she had a passionate night with so it was very easy to trace it that the person responsible for her pregnancy is Kelvin.

She was not happy that she was pregnant and at the same time happy that she is carrying the seed of the one she loves.

“I can't keep this pregnancy from Kelvin, the father of my children. I’ll go and meet him in his pack and inform him. Perhaps, he would change his mind and accept me back as his mate” she said to herself with so much excitement.

Helena started making preparations to go and meet Kelvin. From where she was staying to her former pack is really a distance.

On the day she wanted to leave to inform Kelvin, her phone rang.

“Hey!!! It's me. I'm interested in having the baby in your womb. I promise to pay whatever amount you want me to pay. I know you don't want any pregnancy but please keep that baby for me” the voice from the other end echoed.

Helena felt shivers running down her spine.

“Who are you?” she asked, her voice shaking.

“It's not necessary for you to know who I am. I am the voice of the one that wants a child” the voice said

Helena's heart skipped.

“You are what?” she asked, this time her voice was shaking very very well.

There was a short pause.

“Hello… hello…. hey .. Are you there” Helena asked.

She was not hearing anything and finally checked her phone and found out the the voice hung up without her knowing.

As soon as she dropped her phone, she started bleeding profusely. She has never experienced anything of such except during her menstruation which was not as heavy as what she saw.

She started screaming for help.

“Please…help me.. I’m dying here. Is anyone around? Help me oh….” she screamed yet there was no response.

Helena listens to her instinct a lot.

Immediately the bleeding was becoming more serious, her instinct told her to lie on the floor with her stomach on the floor. She hesitated, then tried it. Immediately, the bleeding stopped.

“Why will it be after the last call I answered that I started bleeding?

Is the unknown voice behind my bleeding? Did he want to take my pregnancy through bleeding “ Helena thought and thought.
