Chapter 17

The Electra zipper in action...

Back at the field of palm trees where Nelda, Luna and Brakka was, the sun was down as the time which is the evening period had made it so, the wind was of a low temperate as it blows in low intensity

The palm leaves blowing as they clash against eachother making low pleasant sounds as they glide through the air with the Electra zipper

Nelda, Luna and Brakka have been coming to this spot for a few days now for the training of Luna in the use of the Electra zipper, and for Nelda to get back her skills in the use of it too, for it had been a long time since she had last used it

Brakka, the dwarf who was lost from the Sylvian mountains in a sea trip was always in his armour as usual, using a locally made telescope to watch Nelda and Luna from where he sat down under shade in the cave like hill

“Damn, how did you get to quit this kind of thing and stay stuck with me on that tavern for so long” Luna said excitedly

“When in the air I feel so free, the air blowing against my face and the control I have over my movements”

“You must be careful when in the air though, arrows are a problem when using the Electra zipper as there isn't a way to change your movement in a very drastic manner like going back when already locked on to a target”

Luna smiled “i got my other hand right here” she said waving the Sylvian wipe, a very useful instrument in deflecting arrows

They were talking as they pinned on the top side of the different palm tree each was on, their back facing and resting on the tree, taking a position that seemed like they were spot down, knee bent and the two foot on the scrap wall of the palm tree

“One other thing you need to know is the grunite stone” Nelda said

“it's what makes the string shoot out to it's target, without it the Electra zipper is more or less useless as it would not be able to send forth the string” explained Nelda as they were still hanging in the air

“So the grunite stone acts like an ignition to the Electra zipper?” Luna asked her master

“Yes it does and the important thing to know is that it finishes after a while, tho it takes a long time to use just a small grunite stone and that makes it easily forgettable and dangerous” Nelda said

“Wow, that's a really tricky one, so in a situation where someone is in danger and needs the Electra zipper to glide away quickly, only to find out that the grunite stone in the Electra zipper is already exhausted.. ahhh….” she put her face in an expression that shows fear

“Not only that, using it for a long stretch of time in a single run makes it a drag on your arm, you should always try to avoid that by monitoring how you use it” Nelda was explaining to Luna the negative effects of using the Electra zipper

“That makes it easier to move quickly during an emergency not considering that your hands are tired and worn out from constant usage”

As he could not see them anymore with the telescope as they have gone far, Brakka was busy roasting some fish he had caught a while ago from the edge of a nearby river

‘They seem so close’ he thought in his mind ‘they could almost be taken for sisters if not for Neldas golden hair that makes her look like no one's blood or equal’

Brakka sat in his full armour thinking as he watched the fish on the fire 'what if I find a way back to the mountains, how would they welcome me, losing so many of my fellows' he thought 'i should just say with Nelda and Luna here in Heatherstown, they are the closest I have to a family here'

He's agnor harmer right by his side incase of any incoming danger as her spent his days thinking less and less

Before meeting Nelda and Luna, he had lived a sorrowful and regretful life as he moved from one town to another, thinking and thinking he had spent most of his days after the disastrous accident on the sea trip

But now he's with family who wholely accepts him, not family by blood but by choosing, and he was satisfied, forgetting all the bad thoughts he had always kept in his mind

Still deep in thought he faintly heard a snort which he didn't mind, then got himself to see a wild boar running towards him with it's horn faced out in a charge

Till laid down in a slant position, he used his right hand in a search for his Agnor hammer as the wild boar increased it's charge forward in an aggressive speed

Finding out too late that he has shifted the hammer from its position beforehand, the wild boar made a hit at his rib side but with his armour on, it was the boar that felt the impact, shaking it's head at the force which it has unknowingly used to hit the armour

And before the wild boar could get itself, Brakka lifted his Agnor hammer and with a deadly strike on the wild boar

Crushing it's horn and head, leaving the boar whimpering in the impact as Brakka now up on his foot took another hit at the wild boar taking away it's life

“Woah… I just remembered Brakka is still at the hill, we should get back to him, it's been so long we have been out here in the field” Nelda snapped as she recalled their companion Brakka in her mind

“Yeah, we should race down back there I think” Luna said

“First person who reaches there gets to choose whatever Brakka would be cooking” she added smiling

“i don't think you would be able to stand it, you are still relatively new to this” Nelda replied her on the proposal for a race

“Come on madam, let's do this, it would be fun beating you” she laughed as released her zipper grip, taking another shot to a further palm tree in the middle of a free fall, thereby starting the race

Nelda watching as her apprentice engaged the retract lever and speed off into the air as the string dragged her forward, heading to the cave-like hill where Brakka was supposed to be at

She thought in a smile 'okay let me teach her a lesson so she knows what she is up for when challenging me on the air

Luna, who was already on the second flight looked back and smiled with glee in her eyes to see her master still hinged on the tree she had left her in

Taking a stab at the tree with a small dagger while releasing her Electra zipper, she shot it to a further tree and engaged the retract lever, pulling her into the air 'ok let's do this' she thought in her mind as she smiled outwardly

Halfway through the air to reach the predetermined destination where her other end of the Electra zipper tensioned string was attached, she pulled her self downwards in a calculated projection, making her move in a curve, increasing her pull downwards as the Electra zipper string pulls her forward

On nearly reaching the palm tree where the other end of the Electra zipper string was attached to, her downward pull had manifested into a full swing taking her up with full force as she detached the end of the string from the tree while still in the air

On breaking through the level on the palm trees, hitting the leaves where she braced for impact as she moved up

Now on a dive upward with nothing attached or dragging her but an upward dive wholely from the result of her calculated swing, she could see the top of all the the palm trees as she goes higher and forward, not being able to see where Luna was because of the leaves of the palm trees

Having almost reached the peak of the projectile and soon to be going back into a downward free fall, she extended her right hand having the Electra zipper as she target the set of palm trees far off towards the cliff

‘Thriss…….’ she shot the Electra zipper a bit too far off, taking almost all of the string in the Electra zipper making the drag less forceful

But as she was already on the air there wasn't much force needed to lift her from the ground into the air, so it was to her advantage as she glides freely without the stress of gliding from one tree to another as Luna must be doing now

Moving on the air like a superhero in one of the longest distance she had ever shot the Electra zipper

Luna glides through the air, from one tree to another, not even waiting to catch her breath from the constant bashing of the wind on her face as she glides through the air using the Electra zipper

She laughed and smiled in total glee 'our first race with the Electra zipper and I am going to totally beat her to it' her mind went wild as she moves through the air, feeling invincible 

Luna already starting to feel little of the effect of the drag of the Electra zipper from the constant movement, took the next shot to a further palm tree

But to her suprise as she was going down, initiating the retract lever started drawing the string back into the Electra zipper in a fast pace without her moving an inch forward leaving her in a free fall

‘Oh Ed', her mind ran wild, 'this is bad' as she felt the movement downwards, a fall that is sure to crush her legs

Immediately gaining her composure as she was falling with the string getting sucked back into the Electra zipper, she released her Sylvian wipe, flapping it with force while hold it tight as she caught a nearby palm tree with it "AHH..." she shouted as it held her weight saving her from the fall

Looking more clearly and consciously at the palm tree where she had shot before the fall, she found out that a part of it was covered in hard rock ‘why didn't I see that’ she thought in regret

Noticing that she haven't seen Nelda passed during or after the fall she decided to continue the race in a rush

Observing more clearly before shooting the Electra zipper to the next tree, also reducing how far the tree she tragets to be able to get her self faster Incase what happened is to repeat itself

Her right hand now worn out from the drag in an attempt to save her self during the fall and her left hand already getting exhausted with the slowly but accumulating stress of the continuous movement, she could now see the hill, though still a bit far from it, it gave her a feel of joy inwards

After all the the hindrance along the way finally she was done with the race at her was in last glide to the palm tree, which behind it was the hill with Brakka absolutely delicious food which he always prepared for them when they go training

‘i won you Nelda!!!!’ her mind was raving as she swing forward without landing on the last palm tree, detaching the end of the string from the tree while on the air

On landing she slide with her legs on the ground moving forward to stop her self as she reaches the front of the cave like hill, the slide bringing dust behind her as she goes

“What in Edian's world?” Luna said as she stood in shock to see Nelda before her, already sitting on a rock eating the fish Brakka had roasted

“Unbelievable….” she says as she faints from exhaustion, unconsciously falling down in her closing eyes, slightly seeing Brakka and Nelda letting go of her fish rushing towards her to catch her.
