I gawk as a beautiful man walked into the door, almost hitting the tall door frame. He was at least six foot five, and built like a brick wall. He was older, probably in his thirties if I had to guess.
Short blonde hair that's slicked back, dark brown eyes that you could get lost in, a chisled jaw with a cute butt chin covered in stubble. He's wearing a simple white tee, with gray sweat pants and a pair of white slip on shoes.
He looks like god personally sculpted him, even with the lazy clothes on. I lookover at Penelope, who was just as shocked, her mouth hanging open, leaving O-Brian obviously a little jealous looking at her expression. I giggle quietly, she quickly looks down at me, closing her mouth.
"Shh" she winks.
Everyone was watching this man's movements, wondering who or what he needed. He could ask someone for the clothes off their back, and I'm sure they would oblige.
Curious eyes followed his strides, mine included. He walks up the main corridor towards.... me?
"Ariya." He says, with his voice booming.
Did his eyes just... turn black?
I think flinching and looking at the ground now.
Does he know me?
"H-How do you-?"
I stammer, still looking at my feet.
Wow, he's intimidating.
"Look at me, Aryia."
He snarls. I look up, scared. I think he can feel my fear, because his face softens ever so slightly.
"You look like your mother did when I saw her last." He murmurs, more to himself than me.
My eyes open wide,
I don't. I thought I looked more like father, but honestly I don't look like either one. They always told me it was recessive genes when I asked, and that I looked like distant family.
I think he can tell I'm lost in thought, because he clears his throat.
"O-Oh, Thank you..umm?"
I pause.
"Trent. Trent Dustfang"
He replies back roughly.
Oh my god, it's him. The man mom wanted me to find!
Newfound courage appears,
"My mother told me to find you. She told me to tell you-"
I start.
"Wait, Aryia, later."
I pout my lip out, annoyed he cut me off. He sighs, walking to O-Brian, leaving me and Peneople dumbfounded, her eyes still following his every step. After some time, he comes back blankly stating
"You're coming with me, to my home."
I take a step back, unwilling to leave without finding who did this and why! He pinches the spot between his eyebrows an lets out a long sigh.
"Things here will be investigated, they'll contact me with any information."
"Wait! I don't know you.. I have so many questions!"
I say exasperatingly. Trent sighs and rubs his temples. I can tell he's trying to remain calm with me... but I can't just leave! Not after all that happened!
"Listen, I'll answer all your questions once we board my plane, but for now, we need to go. I'm sure your mother told you to follow me, hm?"
He stares quizzically, still trying to usher me out the door with his hand.
I sigh and start walking out the door, saying my thank you's to the officers and Penelope, who still seems stunned. I giggle a little, seeing O-Brian trying to get her attention, rolling his eyes.
As we get outside, I notice the sun has gone down, and it's raining. Not enough to drench you, but enough that it's gloomy. It was clear and sunny when I got here,
"Ha, fits the occasion."
I mumble under my breath. I hear Trent sigh loudly.
Did he hear me?
I ponder looking in his direction.
He's looking straight ahead, paying no mind to me, his hair already dripping with water. We quickly get into a car, obviously a rental.
"To the airport" he commands to the driver.
"Yes alpha." He quickly responds and starts driving.
What the hell is this "alpha" thing? Some power trip?
I wonder as I side-eye Trent.
I can only hope he's a good man... my thoughts trail off as we pick up speed.
Luckily, the airport isn't very far, because I'll tell you what, that drive was AWKWARD. Trent didn't say much aside from the occasional "go faster" grunts to the poor driver, to which the driver responded by stepping on the gas.
It seemed like they were both on guard, looking out the windows and never fully stopping at a stop sign. I could feel waves of fear from the driver and annoyance from Trent.
Why does it feel like everyone's emotions are flowing through me? I contemplate to myself.
We arrive at the airport and Trent leads me to a smaller plane. I tense up,
I've never even left Illinois.
I try to force my feet to continue, but falter in my steps, my heart rate picking up as anxiety floods in.
Rubbing his temples, he asks
"What is it now? I already told you, your parents-" He starts grumbling
"I've never been on a plane" I say quietly.
He raises his eyebrows like the idea only just now hit him. Gently pushing me ahead of him,
"it's safe. It's my private jet" he says gruffly.
My eyes go wide as I slowly acend the stairs to the jet, getting inside and taking a seat. Looking around, I see lounge chairs, recliners, a few small mini fridges, and even a bed in the back near the bathroom. I'm overwhelmed.
How does someone go from losing their family, their entire life, to on some rich man's private jet? I snort at the thought.
If you'd have told me two days ago this would be my life, I'd have laughed in your face. I look across from me at Trent.
He really is handsome. He seems smart and genuine, albeit a little harsh.
I look away as I realize he was also looking at me and saw me staring.
"Okay, Ariya, I need you to tell me everything. I mean everything." He says, raising his voice with the word "everything."
This is going to be a long plane ride. I huff
