When Alpha Nick showed no expression and his eyes sharpened, Mary quickly averted her gaze.
“I don’t know what nonsense you’re talking about,” she said, pretending to be annoyed. “I’ve got things to do, Wendy. The meeting is over, and I don’t have time to waste with you.”
With that, she turned to leave.
“Stop right there!” I raised my voice slightly, my tone cold and sharp. “What’s the rush, Mary? Feeling guilty?”
“Guilty? About what?” Mary’s hand was trembling, though she tried to keep her composure.
“Because you’re the one who had the design stolen and replaced!” I cut straight to the point.
Mary’s expression changed subtly, and she quickly defended herself. “Wendy, please don’t throw baseless accusations! Do you even know what defamation means?”
“Defamation?” I gave a cold smile.
