NORWEGIAN TREES AND TREATS - Author May Clarke Flying the nest, inevitably, leaves a mother with an empty nest. Having had three beautiful children: two sons and a daughter, I was proud to say that all my children were happily settled in their own lives and relationships. My ex-husband had remarried before the children had reached their teens, and although he still spoke to one of our boys, he had made it clear that his loyalty was to his new family. Since I was alone, having found no-one else tolerable enough to live with, my angels often rotated who would spend Christmas with me each year, given that they had obligations to their in-laws too.
