19: Pet names
Checking the time constantly made her anxious. She would usually be clocking out of work at this hour, and yet here she was, having spent only less than an hour at work. Marlene knew her mother was still home and would be waiting for her to arrive, but she was really dreading having a conversation with her about her being suspended.
What was the deal with that anyway?
She should have been asking him, but each time she held onto the silky red robe he gave her to wear and she looked up from the plate of food he ordered for them and saw him smile at her, she just could not bring herself to do it.
She still needed to know why he had sedated her, but out of fear of sounding ungrateful, she did no such thing.
