New York City, USA
LUMINIȚA'S POV
I didn't know how long I was going to be on the run, hell I didn't even know how long I was going to live. The answer to the first is 335 years. The second is that I stopped aging two years after my father's death, I was 18. Now I'm 351 years old. Looks like I am immortal, like my father.
I've seen the world change, and change again, and change again. But I've never actually live in it, I'm always on the outskirts of humanity looking in, always running before the catch me. Yup, the Van Helsings are still after me, all because I have to drink blood.
But things are going to finally change. I'm in one of the most populated cities in the world. I'm going by the name 'Lumi' and my Spaniard mother's maiden name 'Alegria'. I'll be hiding in plain sight at NYU Business School as a student.
I don't need to go to school or do any real work, I'm like filthy, obnoxiously rich from my parents and my art. I'm an artist, sculpture and paint. I'm going to school to try to make friends and fit in. I'm even going to stay in the dorm, single room obviously, don't need some nosy roommate finding blood bags in my mini fridge.
I never kill, at least not any more, things were different after papa died. I was angry and sad; which for a while turned me into exactly what the Van Helsings called me -a monster. Now I only feed from blood bags, occasionally a human when my nerves are high, like now, classes start tomorrow.
I'm going to the busiest club in town, I'm pretty enough to get some human guy to follow me out and I can have a few sips then erase his memory of the bite. Maybe even s*x, depending on his looks.
Getting ready took me little time, my brown curls are always ready and just eyeliner and mascara to make my eyes pop. Next I got on a short, slinky, black dress. Finally I put on my heels and left the dorm.
I got in my little Toyota. I know it's weird, a wealthy woman driving a Toyota, but I have to fit in. I have nicer cars but this is the one I brought with me to college.
Driving to the club surprisingly didn't take long. I walked straight to the entrance after parking.
"Scuse me ma'am, you're gonna have to wait like everyone else," a new bouncer claimed blocking my path.
"Right, then you can tell your boss that you made his backer wait in line," I answered feeling pissy. "The money to start this place came from my family bank account."
"Sorry, ma'am. Can only let in-"
"Ms. Alegria, sorry about Dante he's new please come right in," the manager, Chloé, says cutting the bouncer off.
"Sure."
I finally entered the club and right away ordered a lemon drop martini. Quickly downing 2 more, I went to the dance floor and was quickly approached by a handsome blonde guy.
I danced with him for over an hour before we went back to the bar and had another drink while talking.
"Wanna come to my apartment," the guy, whose name I learned was Aaron, asked.
"Sure."
At his apartment we quickly got down to business on the bed. I decided against having s*x but that doesn't mean I can't play with my food a little bit.
"Ouch, hey let me go," Aaron yelled as I fed off him. I didn't take much, just enough to take the edge off my nerves for tomorrow.
"Sorry, look me in the eye," I said compelling him, "You had a one night stand and the chick was crazy in bed. She nipped your neck a little hard, but you both had fun. It was a wild erotic night, but you're too drunk to remember what she looked like or when she left."
Once I was done with him I drove my car back to the dorms and got some sleep. Big day tomorrow.

Alexander Nicholas Van Helsing POV
"Are you sure you have everything? Will you make it in time for classes tomorrow," my mother worried holding onto me tightly in a hug.
"I have everything and as long as you let me go, I'll make it in time for the plane and to class," I answered pulling away.
I'm standing in the airport with my parents. I'm leaving to go to university in the U.S. I will be the first in my family to actually go to college, my dad isn't exactly proud. He would have been proud if I had followed in his and my ancestors steps, focus only on hunting the Draculas and carrying on the Van Helsing line.
"Remember son," father started, "Stay on the lookout. That was our agreement-"
"I can go to school at NYU as long as I look for Dracula's daughter in America," I finish cutting off my father.
I want to be able to focus completely on school, but this was the only way I could get father to allow me to attend university. He was furious when he learned I had applied, he said I was wasting my time and every second I had a split focus another innocent would be bled dried. I had to point out that no one knew where Dracula's daughter was, no one had seen her since my great whatever grandfather had left her to burn in the sun, only to learn she could survive in the sun.
"Flight 137 to New York City is now boarding," said a woman on the intercom cutting off my thoughts.
"This is it," I said grabbing my suitcase, "Bye mum, bye father."
With one final hug, I got on the plane.
