3 Meet Bastard Boss Again

Ailsa woke up to the smell of pancakes. Her half naked body was sprawled over the bed, entangled with the covers. She sighed contentedly and stretched out her long shapely limbs. After a few more stretches, she slipped out of the bed, grabbed a shirt that belonged to Walt and made her way out of the bedroom. She found him hunched over the stove in the kitchen, his eyebrows were drawn together in concentration and his beautiful hair was a mess from the previous night. She leaned against the doorframe and bit her lip, trying not to smile as she watched him. It took a while before he felt her presence but when he finally did, he looked up and his face broke into a smile that melted her heart. “Hey,” he said “made your favorite, blueberry.” “Yum!” she said and skipped towards him, hugged him from behind and planted a kiss on the back of his neck. “Well,” he said, chuckling “good morning to you too,” he turned around to kiss her forehead then grabbed the plates of pancakes topped with berries and whipped cream. Ailsa grabbed forks from a drawer and cups for juice and they made their way to the living room with their meal. “Start Fantasy on the big screen,” Walt said out loud, the system responded and his television screen came alive with the start page of the game. “Right, we didn’t get to play anymore last night. Not this game anyway,” Ailsa said and giggled. Walt laughed also and they settled in front of the television together. Ailsa started to eat her breakfast, savoring the taste, her boyfriend was a really good cook, a good lover too. Memories of the previous night flooded her head and she found herself smiling again. “We can start after eating. How was your night?” Walt asked, looking at her as he chewed his food. Her hair was down and a little disheveled nut she still looked breathtakingly beautiful in his shirt. She licked at the whipped cream that perched on her lips and nodded. “Really good, I haven’t slept that well in a while,” she gave him a toothed grin and set her plate aside “okay, let’s play your game.” Walt was happy about her enthusiasm because he had come up with a good plan to prevent his equipment in the game from being recalled. He would teach Ailsa how to play first then he would play against her without her knowing and pretend to lose to her in the game. The game worked in such a way that the winner in a battle got the loser’s possessions and equipment. After that, he would forget about playing and focus solely on Ailsa. “Okay, player one,” he said causing her to laugh. He started to explain the game to her. The game was set in a magical realm called Fantasy, in Fantasy, there were several regions with several races. Overtime, the land stabilized and there were only three races namely; the Terrans, the Demons and the Elves. The three races lived together peacefully in Fantasy for generations until an evil outer force threatened their peace and wanted to occupy their land. As a result, the elite forces of the three races set out to fight the evil force, leaving behind their young to defend Fantasy from other forces and grow stronger till they could help defeat the evil force completely and restore the realm to its former glory and peace. Ailsa who was paying rapt attention realized that the game was a lot more complex that she initially thought. She smiled, understanding why so many people were addicted to it, some of her friends included. “Here,” Walt said and handed her a game pad. “How do I use it?” “Once you hold the pad and click play, it activates the bioelectric working of the game and connects it to your brain.” “Uh, isn’t that dangerous?” “No, not at all. It sends waves to your brain which causes you to enter a dream-like state and enter the game in a physical state. Everything will feel as real as it does now,” “Wow, so I’ll feel everything? Even pain?” “No, you will be aware that you are in pain or pleasure but it doesn’t affect your body in the real world in any way.” “What if I die in the game?” “You will simply be returned back to the start of the game,” “Hmm,” Ailsa said skeptically, eyeing the pad in her hands “okay, so what do I do now?” “You’re ready to play?” “Yeah,” “Okay, hold the pad in both hand…good. Now, when I press play on the screen, you will find yourself in the Land of Origin, which is the-” “Wait, won’t you enter the game with me?” “No, not right now, we can play together some other time,” Walt said even though he knew he no longer planned to play. She sagged her shoulders a little and pouted “okay,” she said and Walt cleared his throat before he continued. “As I was saying-” “I want to play with you,” she complained, interrupting him again “that’s why I agreed to play in the first place.” “Well, I only have one pad, we can’t both play at the same time…” that statement seemed to annoy her because she dropped the game pad and folded her arms over her chest and gave him a pissed off look. “You were the one who said and I quote ‘we can be like all those gaming couples’, what happened to that?” she asked, he sighed and ran his hand through his hair. She had him there, he did promise but he had no way of playing with her unless he had an extra pad. “Okay, you’re right. I’m sorry,” Walt said, she lowered her arms and pouted at him again, unsure of what to do. “My office isn’t far from here, I could go there and log in to the game from there…that way, we could play together today and I’d buy another game pad on my way back after we play.” Ailsa bit her bottom lip to ponder the option. She didn’t want him to leave her in his apartment, but she was really curious about the game and really wanted to play with him. She supposed it would be okay if he did as he offered. “How will I figure the game out?” “There’s a tutorial and everything, it’s easy…” he said. She took another pause and stared at the pad in her hands. “Okay okay, go to the office but let’s play for just an hour, then you come back here…” “Yes ma’am,” Walt said and chuckled, then he leaned in towards her to give her a kiss which she deepened by grabbing the back of his head with both of her hands. When she did not seem ready to let go, Walt pulled away slightly and laughed. “Can I go now?” he asked, she laughed and nodded. He got to his feet and carried their now empty dishes to the kitchen “you can start playing. The tutorial takes a little while before the real game starts,” he called out to her as he placed the dishes in the sink. “Okay, so I just press play?” “Yeah,” he replied and walked back to the living room where he saw that she had already started. She sat comfortably on the floor with the pad in her hand and her eyes closed. He realized that he had never seen what another person looked like while playing the game. She seemed so calm though, with her eyes closed like that, he was almost tempted to kiss her. He went into his bedroom to change into something comfortable to go to the office. It was a Sunday, and he had no reason to wear formal attire. As he headed out, he glanced at Ailsa one more time and saw that she still looked peacefully still. It was drizzling a little when he stepped outside, so he decided to take Accelerate. He arrived in front of the Minan Group building in a few seconds and rushed inside quickly because he did not have an umbrella and the rain was starting to get heavy. The security man on duty quickly let him in. “Morning Mr Walt, I’m truly surprised to see you here on a weekend.”
