Harun woke in a puddle of sunlight, still wearing feline form, with Kelwyn pressed against his side, both curled together in a tangle of blankets, pillows, and cushions They were not in their room in the tower, where so much of Kelwyn’s blood had been shed, but in their new house on the outskirts of the city. Their new bed had yet to be delivered, so the exhausted pair had merely piled up everything soft they had and settled down together in the otherwise empty bedroom. Kelwyn had spent a lot of time with his ear pressed to Harun’s side, listening to the baby’s heartbeat, reassuring himself that the child was unharmed. Harun was glad of that reassurance as well.
