Kat’s jaw dropped at Jameson’s words. She was sure she heard him wrong, but when she looked over at PaPa, he was smiling brightly at her and slowly nodding his head. She hesitated, unsure of what to say next.
“It’s alright, Darling,” PaPa said gleefully “you should feel very honored that The King and Queen have chosen you to do this for them.”
There was a gleam in his eye as he finished. It was one she knew all too well. Whenever he looked at her that way, it meant that she’d best do what was asked of her, or there would be consequences, dire consequences. She looked at MaMa, hoping that there was a way to get out of this. Josephine shook her head, only slightly so that Kat would be the only one to notice.
With a sigh, Kat looked back to Jameson. “Why me? If I may ask Your Grace.”
