CHAPTER 2 — The Consequence He Never Saw Coming

262 Words
Two weeks later. Amara stared at the test in her hand. Her world tilted. “No…” she whispered. But the result didn’t change. Two lines. Clear. Unmistakable. Pregnant. Her knees gave way, and she sank onto the bathroom floor, her breath coming in short, uneven gasps. This wasn’t part of the plan. That night was supposed to fix things. Not destroy everything. Her hand trembled as it moved to her stomach. There was life inside her. A child. His child. Ethan Blackwood. The name now burned in her mind. She had tried to forget him. Tried to bury that night like it never happened. But now… There was no escaping it. --- “Tell him,” her friend insisted later that evening. Amara shook her head immediately. “No.” “Why not? He’s rich! He should take responsibility!” Amara let out a hollow laugh. “You didn’t see the way he looked at me,” she said quietly. “To him, I was nothing.” And she refused— Refused to let her child grow up being treated the same way. --- That night, she made a decision. She would leave. No explanations. No goodbyes. No trace. She would disappear from Ethan’s world completely. And raise this child on her own. Even if it meant starting from nothing. Even if it meant struggling. Even if it broke her. Because one thing was certain— She would never let her child feel unwanted. Not the way she had felt in that room. Not the way he made her feel. Never.
