Ethan Blackwood didn’t like unfinished business. And yet… He couldn’t stop thinking about her. The girl from the party. The one who looked at him like she wasn’t afraid. The one who walked away. He sat behind his desk, flipping through documents, but his focus wasn’t there. “Find her.” His assistant blinked. “Sir?” “The girl from the engagement party,” Ethan said, his tone calm but firm. “I want her name. Everything.” His assistant hesitated. “We’ve tried, sir. There’s no record of her.” Ethan’s eyes narrowed slightly. “No record?” “It’s like she disappeared.” That didn’t sit right with him. No one just disappears. “Keep looking,” he said coldly. “Yes, sir.” The assistant quickly left the office. Ethan leaned back in his chair, his jaw tightening. Why was this bothering him? She was supposed to be nothing. A mistake. So why did it feel like something unfinished was lingering? He stood up and walked to the window, staring out at the city below. For the first time in a long time… Something felt out of his control. And he didn’t like it.
