Enrique
As I was dressing myself, I felt two hands caressing my back. I turned around and Diane stood before me naked . She kissed my chest and my lips.
“Good morning my lord,” she said smiling. “Where are you off to so early?”
I leaned down and kissed her back. “I have to take care of some things. I’m a busy man Diane.”
She rolled her eyes and got in bed again. “You sound like my husband. Never at home because he is too busy. I’m always left alone-he only cares to be with me when he has to flaunt me like a trophy to his friends.”
“I thought you hated your husband, why do you care if he isn’t here?” I asked as I put on my shirt.
“Oh I do hate him!” She said slumping against large pillows, letting her short brown hair lump against the headboard. “He’s old, smells bad and isn’t good in bed. I’m surprised I was able to give him a son.”
“But?”
“But I am his wife! I require attention, gifts and some flattery! Even though I hate him,am not attracted to him and hate his company, I am still a woman.”
I went to put on my boots on and rolled my eyes. This was what I knew Diane craved the most-attention. Which was why we had been sleeping with eachother in secret for the past year. Her husband was always away on some trip and would take their 12 year old son with him. She was left home all alone. She needed someone to talk to, warm her bed and make her feel alive. She was a beautiful woman and skilled in bed, so I was happy to be that someone for her.
I finished dressing and walked over to her. I leaned down and kissed her neck. She moaned and shuddered against me, women always melted at my touch.
“See you tomorrow?” She asked when I pulled away.
“We’ll see,” I said walking out. The last thing I needed was to spend too much time with her and giving her ideas. We were casual, just physical. It would always be like that.
With everyone.

Two months later I was in my office on the first floor of our house when the butler came in with a letter. He handed it to me and I recognized the elegant and small penmanship. It was from Rachel Thompson. I opened the letter and read the few sentences that I could tell were written quickly.
Hello Enrique,
I am just reaching out to let you know that my brother, mother and I will be traveling to Spain in the next month.
My brother has to meet with a fellow friend to do some business.
Mother and I have not traveled in a long time and are taking this opportunity to get away from London. We may need help navigating the city, if you are available mother hopes you can help.
Hope you are well, see you soon.
Rachel
Her penmanship was neat and flowed nicely, but I could tell by the flicks at the end of every word that she rushed through the letter.
I hadn’t seen Rachel in a long time. I had a met her through Arthur, my sister‘s husband. She had also become my sister‘s best friend so we interacted here on there.
I remembered that when I first saw her I thought she was pretty, but a bit plain. She didn’t really stand out in the crowd, and I was sure I had overlooked her before I knew her and even after as well. Although, it always brought me great amusement when I thought about the time we disguised ourselves to go undercover at a brothel. We were working on how to save Charles, my best friend since I was a kid, from being blackmailed. I remembered that I appreciated Rachel‘s bravery and quickness when it came to adapting to intense situations. Aside from that, she was very aloof and distant.
Maybe some time away from rainy, gloomy and cloudy London would be good for her. Spain was always beautiful in the spring time.
It would do some good for her and those around her if she could lighten up and smile once in a while.

-1 Month Later-
I was waiting in the carriage nearby the border between Spain and France waiting for the Thompson family to arrive. It was an extremely long journey and I wanted to make sure that I could make the rest of the trip a bit easier on them. I had my staff pack some food, blankets and even a change of clothes if they needed it. If my father taught Celeste and I anything, it was to be mindful of the needs of others.
It was getting late, near sundown, when I heard a carriage arriving. I hopped off and stood by as a carriage came to a stop. In a matter of seconds, Oliver Thompson jumped off. He was a year or two older than me but other than that I didn’t really know him. Charles talked highly of him but I hadn’t seen him until now.
Now that I saw him I recognized his blue eyes. They were the same bright blue eyes that Lady Thompson and Rachel had. He also had the same light brown yet blondish hair as Rachel. He was as tall as me, a bit shorter maybe, and thin but muscular. He carried himself with confidence and both charm and intimidation.
He walked over to me in long quick strides and shook my hand. “Enrique Cortez?”
“That’s right,” I said shaking his hand- he had a strong grip. “Welcome to Spain, I’m sure it’s been a long and tiring trip for you all.”
He nodded and pointed over at the carriage where Lady Thompson was being helped down. “You have no idea.”
I walked over to Lady Thompson who looked as cheerful and warm as ever. She wore a simple light green dress and her light brown hair was pinned up neatly.
“How are you Enrique?! It’s been so long!” She said pinching my cheeks.
“Yes it has been Lady Thompson-and I’ve been just fine. How are you?”
She sighed dramatically. “Tired, to say the least. But I’ll be just fine with a couple minutes of stretching my legs.” She waddled over to Oliver who had his hand out to help her walk. She pointed over at the carriage and laughed. “I’m doing better than her though.”
I turned back to the carriage and looked into a pair of familiar yet strikingly new blue eyes. Rachel carefully stepped off the carriage with the help of the footman. Her dark blonde hair was tied back into an intricate braid and be she wore a dark purple-almost gray dress. She looked at me up and down and for a moment I felt lost.
“Hello Enrique, it’s nice to see you.”
I nodded, holding out my hand to grab hers and kiss it. However she just shook my hand tightly like her brother.
I laughed, “It’s nice to see you too Rachel. It’s been a long time.”
