Be careful while riding vehicles’ said Vedha. ‘I’m really grateful, I got to know that you donated blood for me.’ thanked Anamika. ‘It is my pleasure, Anamika. You can contact me in any situation, I will surely come to help you.’ said Vedha. Vedha’s speech made Anamika to think about the reason behind his unconditional care. Few weeks passed, Anamika was discharged to her home. Vedha invited Anamika and her grandfather to their house warming function.
It was the day of the function, Anamika and her grandfather left to Vedha’s new home. Vedha’s Mom welcomed them humbly. ‘How are you my dear?’ asked Shamala. ‘I’m fine ma.’ replied Anamika. After few hours, t he function ended happily and the crowd left. Anamika noticed a girl’s photo in the wall. ‘Who is she?’ asked Anamika pointing her hands towards the photo. ‘She is my younger daughter, Vedika. She met with an accident and passed away before some years’ said Shamala. Anamika felt sad, ‘ Don’t worry ma. I’m t here for you.’ she consoled. Mom smiled. ‘Come let’s have food together. Call your Grandpa’ said Mom and went to the kitchen. Anamika followed their voice and headed to the backyard. Vedha and grandpa was sitting in the chair and was discussing on something. Anamika noticed an adult giant German Shepherd sitting near Vedha’s foot. ‘ Bose! Bose!’ she called her grandpa. The remained same, they were talking continuously. Anamika stood there, and dialled Vedha. ‘Sir! Mom is calling you both for lunch.’ she said. ‘ We are in the backyard. Where are you? Why are you making a call?’ he asked. ‘Sir! I’m standing near the pillar, look at me. I’m really scared of dogs.’ she said in fear. ‘Don’t get scared dear. He is my brother. He is well trained. Come here!’ he said with a laugh. ‘ No! I’m scared’ she stammered. Vedha got up and brought the dog near Anamika. ‘Caesar stay’ he said. The dog stood still. ‘He is a star detective. He helped us in several cases.’ he said with a smile and tapped on Caesar’s head. Anamika’s heart beat fast, ‘Just tou c h him ’ he said. ‘Caesar! Shake hands’ said Vedha and the dog raised his paw. Anamika held his paw. She smiled. ‘Sir! Mom is calling us to have food.’ she said. Vedha smiled, ‘Don’t call me sir. It is not good to hear.’ said Vedha with a smile. ‘Okay, Mr Policeman’ replied Anamika with a giggle. All three headed to the dine and got seated and Mom served them. ‘Where is Anamika’s parents. I’ve never seen them.’ asked Mom. Anamika’s face shrunk. ‘At her age of three, Anamika’s mother passed away. Her father had no mercy; he left Anamika and moved abroad. Later he married a lady and now he is well settled. I am her maternal grandfather. Later me and my wife brought up Anamika.’ replied her grandpa in a sad voice. Mom hugged her, ‘See now, you’ve got a mother and a brother. We are there for you, Anamika.’ calmed Mom. Vedha held Anamika’s hand, ‘Losses are very painful, but the pain is not permanent.’ said Vedha. Anamika smiled. ‘I lost my sister at my age ten. She was four years younger to me. My world revolved around her. One day, We went on a tour in the vacation. We did not know that day will end up in trag edy . A truck lost it’s control and dashed us. Our car was crashed and turned topsy turvy. My little sister was stuck under the car. My father’ s legs got locked in the wheel. Later we were taken to hospital. My sister passed away, treatments went useless. My dad’s right leg was amputated. Later, he los t his job. He became a drunkard, he couldn’t accept his daughter’s loss. After a year, my dad passed away because of heart attack.’ said Vedha. His face turned red and his eyes poured out tears. Anamika held his hand warmly. ‘ I was a little boy who lost h is beloved sister and dearest father. Our family shattered. Years went, we were living our life. This recent days were a lucky period of my life, I met you. A girl who was born on the same day when my little sister was born. Destiny brought y ou to me. I somehow feel my little sister in y ou .’ said Vedha. Anamika hugged Vedha in happy tears. ‘I’m your brother. You’re my little sister. I will destroy anything that harm you.’ promised Vedha.
