My lips parted, but I shut them the next second. My mind screamed at me to deny this, but that would only hurt George. I couldn’t leave him alone at such a time.
It wasn’t his fault, and truly, there wasn’t anyone to blame for this.
“Please do not kill him,” I finally found words.
For a split second, I saw Cassien grind his jaw, but it disappeared as though it were an illusion. “Are you pleading for him to remain alive despite going against an important rule?” Cassien asked.
