It happened so fast.
I didn’t have the time to react. To process. But Cassien’s voice pulled me out of my daze. I couldn’t run nor hide. I had to face him. And I had to face everyone eventually.
I heard every step he made towards me before he stopped, calling out to me. My heart drummed with fear.
I spun around slowly, the dagger slipping from my hand. All my focus was on the man who stood in front of me, for the first time with an expression on his face.
It was shock, disbelief but then it disappeared in an instant. He was back to his neutral self but that didn’t get rid of the fact that I knew I was in eminent danger if things if things went wrong. Again.
