Kaelen’s POV “A simple no would have sufficed,” Cassien said, hand around the spear that now found root in his chest. My heart raced in my chest, and my eyes widened at his bleeding chest. He pulled the blade out of his skin with no reaction, but my heart sank. More blood oozed out, soaking his shirt. I placed a hand over it trying to put pressure to stop the bleeding, panicked. “As much as I appreciate you being worried about me, I’m fine,” he said. “But you-” He pulled my hand away from his chest, and aside from the torn patch on the shirt and the blood, there was no sign of injury.
