Chapter 34

1267 Words

Kaelen's POV I snapped my eyes open, eyes darting around and then to the water around me. “Asher?” I called out, but no one answered. I wasn't sure if I was hearing things or not. I got out of the spring, grabbing my dress and putting it on, eyes still on the water. Nothing out of the ordinary has happened since I stepped out, but I had a feeling someone was in there. I shook my head before I lost my mind. “I must be overthinking,” I muttered to myself, heading back. “George?” I spotted him a distance away. “What are you doing here?” “I couldn't leave you on your own, General. I stayed here all this while,” he said. It was easy to hear me scream from here, but I doubted he could have seen anything, so I let it slide. We returned to the mansion, and I found it easy to fall asleep.
