Kaelen's POV “Mommy!” “Mommy, save me! Mommy!” I snapped my eyes open, looking around with heavy breathing. It felt like I had gotten out of water. I swallowed, looking around the vast forest with nothing but trees and fog. “Mommy, please save me!” The little voice came again. It didn't sound like it was close. It was an echo, repeating that sentence like its life depended on it. And… it resonated with me. I could feel my heart hurt every time I heard the pain and desperation coming from the child.
