Chapter 25The dying rays of the sun shone through the flap of Aeneas’s command tent. Gyas and Mnestheos stared at Aeneas, their expressions dark. At the other end of the table, Sergestos leaned back on his chair. Mnestheos cleared his throat. ‘Laddie, how long are we going to wait?’ ‘We need a strategy. Now,’ said Gyas, fingering his dagger. ‘We will discuss it when Julos gets here, not before.’ As soon as their embassy had arrived back at the camp, Aeneas had summoned Gyas and Mnestheos to a meeting one hour hence. Julos, assuming he was dismissed, had gone off with Euryalos and Nisos to help dig trenches.
