11 Still 2769, Second Earth… It took Jules another three nights before he again saw Gage. Apparently, Chev and Pel must have decided that the boy understood the rules of the games enough to play on his own. Gage’s friends were being smart. They didn’t allow him to wager enough, or win so much, that it drove the other gamers away or caused suspicion. Instead of joining, Jules kept to the periphery of the crowds. He listened and watched, but not just Gage. The proprietor and other gamers were observed for traits or any unwarranted interest in the boy. He was impressed with Gage’s ability to manipulate the cubes, and his “lucky guesses” when it came to the cups.
