It was the height of summer. The location of Penlei, the largest and most populated region on Windmere, was such that the star that provided the planet with heat and light was high in the sky and would only swing close to the horizon before rising again, so it appeared to make a circular path in the sky rather than a linear one across the pale blue as it did when winter visited Penlei. The oxygen-rich atmosphere made for a planet very much alive with flora and fauna. Several varieties of trees stretched their branches into the air, while grasses and shrubs grew at their base. Windmere boasted of oceans and rivers that rivaled those of the ancient planet Earth. Beasts of all varieties walked, swam, and flew in this place of purity.
