Chapter 2: The Full Examination

1131 Words
Ryan smiled and said, “Miss Powell, it is fortunate that you came in when you did. Had it worsened overnight, who knows what would have happened?” “What should I do?” Linnet asked anxiously. “Could you please help me?” Ryan nodded. “I can treat you. No offense, though, but I have to see you naked before I can make a proper diagnosis.” What a lech! – Linnet thought. A red flush spread from her face to her neck. She may have had an overbearing temperament, but she was a conservative girl, and she lacked the courage to get naked in front of this strange doctor. To make matters worse, she had left home in a hurry, and she had not taken the time to change out of her sexy underwear. “Do I have to get naked?” she asked. “It is a must, I’m afraid. But don’t think too much about it. It is only for treatment, and I am a doctor. I have seen many naked bodies before, so you have nothing to be worried about.” Linnet thought about her condition for a few minutes. Finally, she sighed and began to undress. Ryan waited in silence, and just as Linnet stepped out of her panties, the door opened and a young man in an Armani suit rushed in. He flashed Linnet a big smile, offered her his hand, and said, “Lin, come with me. I can help you. My dad has made an appointment with a doctor at the Grey Nuns’ Hospital. He could help with your sleeping problems.” Linnet glared at the hand that had been offered. “George Foster!” she hissed. “We are not that close, so please call me Linnet.” Linnet’s cutting remarks froze George’s smile. The man had been born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and he had dated a lot of girls. Most of them begged to be his girlfriends, so he was not accustomed to being treated in such a frosty manner. He was not one to give up easily, though. He thought about Linnet’s rich family and smiled. “Alright, alright,” he said. “But we should be cautious about doctors. I mean, you just can’t trust doctors from this hospital. I thought everyone knew that…” Linnet smirked. “I’m good. I can take care of myself. Thank you for your concern, but do not need it. I trust Doctor Ryan. After one look at my breasts, he knew what was wrong!” George was taken aback. “He looked at your breasts?” Then, for the first time, he realized that she was naked. “Linnet!” he exclaimed. “You are being fooled! This guy is too young to be a doctor. How could you believe in him? You must meet Doctor Humphry and listen to his advice. Thanks to my father’s social status, Doctor Humphry agreed to see you in person on short notice. How could you choose an intern over Doctor Humphry?” George raised his chin. It was evident that he was proud of his family. Linnet was taken aback. She had thought about seeking help from Doctor Humphry, but she had no connections to him, and never in a million years would she have thought that George’s father would put in a good word for her. Thus, she had not asked. As a doctor, Ryan would never interfere with a patient’s choice, but he found George’s words very insulting. “Sir,” he said. “You should not have barged in like that, especially when I am doing an examination. Linnet has a right to her privacy, so kindly leave. And while you are waiting outside, you may as well check out my credentials. I assure you that I am of age and am fully qualified to be a doctor. As for Doctor Humphrey,  I hold the man in high regard, but I do not think that he can cure Miss Powell. If she leaves with you, she will only get worse. If that happens, it will be on your head.” George found Ryan’s word rather amusing. “Are you suggesting that you are more capable than Doctor Humphry?” He turned to Linnet and said, “See, Linnet. I told you that he is full of s**t! How about it if he gives me an examination? I double-dare him to!” Ryan looked George up and down, smirked, and said, “I would be happy to, if that is what you truly want. In fact, I won’t even bill you for it.” “Why not?” George laughed. “Let’s see what you’ve got. If you are right about my health, I will cut you some slack and stop pestering Linnet.” Ryan nodded and said, “Mr. Foster, you should have worn a condom last night.” “What the hell are you talking about?” George growled. “This is slanderous! Linnet, you cannot believe his words.” George was so livid that it made Linnet suspect that he had unprotected s*x with a prostitute the night before. How on earth did Ryan know about that? – George wondered. “I didn’t have s*x last night!” he lied. “The Lady doth protest too much, methinks.” Ryan chuckled. “Admit it on not, I care not. Just know this: You can die from untreated Syphilis. And in the future, ‘Don’t be silly, cover your willy.’ It might feel nice to go in unprotected, but hopefully, now you realize that doing so can have lasting repercussions!”   George was grinding his teeth as he clenched and unclenched his fists. Never in his life had he been this angry. He looked at Linnet and said, “Linnet, this guy is talking nonsense. You cannot trust him! You are the love of my life. I would never sleep with other women.” Linnet looked doubtfully at George. At this point, she had lost sight of what was true.   Ryan sighed and said, “Mr. Foster, there is no reason to behave this way. I am speaking the truth, and Syphilis is curable. All you need to do is make an appointment!” I would rather die! – George thought to himself. Blue veins stood out on his temples. Instead of fighting with Ryan, though, he ran out of the room. That man has not seen the last of me! – George thought.
