Alice watched at Ryan and Tom until they were out of sight. She was despondent about the way things were going. If she had known about the fact, she would never break off the engagement.
“We should not hold this engagement party. Do you want me to marry Ben? He’s jobless now!” Alice roared at her father.
She had decided to marry Ben for only his fortune, and she was clearly exasperated by the whole saga and regretted her decision.
