The next morning, when Ryan was in a sound sleep, Tom woke him up. It was the scheduled day to meet Alice, and everything must be in good order.
“Rise and shine. Alice must be waiting for you.”
Ryan felt sorry for his father because he knew well that the Bates would not regard him as an ideal son-in-law.
